So I hope this is the right forum for this. I haven't really seen a mileage run help forum.

I need about 1500 EQP to make the 10,000 EQP needed for the Platinum challenge before end of March.

I'm have a good amount of QFF points that I can use for repositioning from Perth, but haven't had any luck with finding flights at a reasonable cost-per-mile.

If anyone's done something like this, I'd love to hear your advice.

Bump. Just want to make sure this is the best forum to ask this. Or would flight assistance be better?

Maybe you just bite the bullet with a return trip from Perth?

The cheapest trans-cons sadly book into E class which don't earn with AA.

$821 PER-SIN return in O (sale) class one way and S (saver) the other will garner 1830 of the precious EQP's.

Here's one out of the box - look on expedia.br for a PER-SIN round trip.

Via SYD each way with BA to/from SIN comes up at at varying prices from around $830 but seems to book into L/N/V classes with which the PER/SYD flights alone would cross the line.

Thanks for that info. I was noticing the "E" fare which didn't show up anywhere on the AA website. That's too bad.

The PER-SIN direct prices on matrix at $300 (great!), but expedia.br is charging a $60 fee (yikes!).

You could combine this into a multi-city with BA in W, doing the PER-SYD now, and saving SYD-SIN-SYD-PER for later. The transcon books into B class :)

The $300 fare books into O class each way leaving you 120 or so EQP's short.

If you can dig up an ~$500 fare I would assume S class or similar one way which would do the trick.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

There's plenty of info around here on how to avoid this ;)

Hah. Awesome. Thanks for this tip and the other info.

I thought "O" qantas gives 0.5 EQP. SIN-PER-SIN is 4.8k total miles according to gcmap resulting in 2.4k EQP which is enough. Am I doing that right?

I'd love to do a better value run but I just don't have the time to do it right now.

Make sure you use the second table "Effective for flights flown on/after August 1, 2013" which has the updated earn rates. Unfortunately for O class that is now 0.25 PPM then 0.5 EQP per mile earned making it 0.125 EQP per mile.
So your round trip PER-SIN-PER would get you 4842 x 0.125=605 EQP

This is good advice. Once you have Platinum the flights to/from Sin will earn at Platinum rates. Take advantage of the current special - BA is a great earner for AA.

Eww... wow, okay I didn't realize it was for mile earned instead of mile flown. That makes this much less attractive. I guess it's not the same as flying on AA flights where I got 0.5 EPQ per mile despite being in S class.
