Hi,
In May I fly Auckland - Joburg AirNZ/CX premium economy return. Unfortunately I have long stopovers in Hong Kong. (11 hours on way back). Im after ideas from other people as to how to fill in the time.
Is there a recommended lounge I could purchase a pass to and gain access for the day?
Am I better off at a airport hotel?
Is there a city tour from the airport?
Im a newbie to premium economy and airport lounges, so any advice to help with making the long stopover more pleasant would be appreciated.
Thanks
Geoff

Its very easy to catch a train into the Harbour or food districts - 11 hours in a pay to enter lounge is a long time.
What time of day do you arrive/depart?

I arrive in HK 7am-ish, then out 6pm. Of course Im happy to roam the shops and terminal.
Is there a lounge I can access that I can freshen up, go in and out.
Id rather not leave the airport area - but thats just me.

Disneyland would be my pick too but I’d definitely be jumping on the train and getting out of the Airport.

I wouldn't say "unfortunately"! 11 hours in HGK might be the best part of the trip! If i have more than 5 hours i will go downtown as its too easy.

Mongkok, TST, Wanchai just too much to do, but you can see a lot. Star ferry ride, Peak tram, Peking Duck at Central...... plenty to do and bugger Disneyland, about HGK as tabbouleh!

Or take the express train to Kowloon, then spend 25c on the most scenic ferry ride in the world to Central, then on to Aberdeen for a meal on one of the Jumbo floating restaurants. Then retrace your journey back to the airport.

Yes Jumbo’s is a little cheesy and yes it doesn’t have the best food in town but we always seem to find ourselves back there atleast once a year

Must agree - get out of airport - airport express train is between the two terminals - we bought tickets for train at the terminal so very easy to get in and back. They run very reg and take 20 min or so to get into town I agree re kowloon and ferry across harbour perfect way to see skyline on both sides of harbour. Suggest custard tarts for snack - too many places for food but some are another mrt ride away - and mightnt enjoy if worried about time, Maybe on way back to kowloon mrt just wonder along nathan rd to have meal or bit of window shopping Could easily be back at airport in lounge by 3.30 -4.00. Then plenty time in lounge - others will know more re showers etc at airport or lounges.

Thank you for all the ideas. I will likely venture out of the airport for a look around.
However back to the lounge options. Is there a lounge I can pay to access?
Are there mutiple options at Hong Kong airport, is one better than another?
Im really after information on this, somewhere to shower, meal, drink, somewhere comfortable to relax for a while.

Definitely is a couple of lounges you can pay for but don’t think they are anything special but you should be able to atleast have a shower and freshen up. I know there is one in arrivals but can’t vouch for the quality or services offered

Definitely Plaza Premium lounge. HKG is their home base and the lounge is pretty decent. Can get very busy though
