It has been a while since the last AFF London catch-up, so we really should arrange the next one.

Both visitors and locals are welcome.

Now, here comes the tricky bit. Date, time and location are still to be decided. This will obviously depend on availability for people. But aiming for a Sunday or early week night to try and avoid the crowds.

Anyone interested?

Monday/Wednesday nights are good for me if during the week, otherwise weekends are fine although space can be harder to get. I'm tied up the first 2 weekends of the month, and the last weekend leads onto a bank holiday......

I'm able to do early weeknights. Weekends can be a bit hectic at times. Plenty of sun still out after work at the moment which is great.

I agree with that. Brilliant weather at the moment (when you are in the sun!) .

Anyway, will leave this thread for a few days to see who responds and then come up with a potential date that suits. Location is always tricky, there are many choices... but I will come up with somewhere relatively central.

We will be in London 16th to 21st May.
Other than a Saturday night theatre booking, we're free each night
Would love to catch up for a drink or two

The 16th works fine for us.

Do you have anywhere in mind?

Have a few places in mind, which area of London are you staying in? Should be able to find somewhere that doesn't involve a massive trek for you!

OK, drinks will be at Wetherspoons in ...... Lewisham ;) :D

Now now... You're there on your own :D

I was thinking of Holborn for drinks (5-10 min walk roughly from the Travelodge), there are a good range of pubs on High Holborn. Still thinking about food, can either combine the pub with food, or head somewhere else. Any preferences?

I'm happy with pub grub if others are too.

Not that I'll be there but I like the food at the Ship Tavern. :D

Funnily enough that was the place we were discussing today...

Indeed. Basically next to Holborn Tube Station (down a small street called Gate Street). Small ground floor pub, but plenty of nooks to sit in. Upstairs is their restaurant.
The Ship Tavern - Pub in Holborn, Pub WC2, Pub central London, Pub near Lincoln’s Inn, Private dining Holborn

There are thousands of pubs in London. Not all are suitable for a catch-up (and yes, I have now visited most within a decent radius of the Travelodge). This one, although not the cheapest I have found does meet my general criteria for a catch-up. If prices are an issue (they are "high end moderate", ie 3.80+ for a pint of lager), then there is a Wetherspoons just up the road which is slightly cheaper but atmosphere suffers...

Food doesn't have to be there either. Plenty of decent places nearby.
