Re: LJ Hooker & Qantas Frequent Flyer Points

Any body had success getting QFF points out of LJHooker following listing and sale of property through them?

My LJHooker agent tells me that it only applies if 4% commission is paid. I negotiated a lower commission. There is nothing in the T&C on their website about the level of commission.

Cheers

4% is daylight robbery!

I have never paid over 2%.

At this rate I don't think it would be worth getting the points.

There's an interesting clause on the Qantas website (on the page for LJ Hooker)

Your Qantas Frequent Flyer membership number and the number of points you will receive must be agreed on at the time of listing and clearly stated in your LJ Hooker exclusive listing or management agreement for the sale or lease of your property.

So was it stated? Seems weird that a R.E Agent (Actually, perhaps not based on their industry) would fill in the details, but then retract later.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

Do they use the standard REIV agreement which, of course, says nothing about ff points. Complain to the Estate Agents Board and Consumer Affairs

I think the first step would be to approach LJ Hooker Head Office and complain.

I beleive the Hooker family just purchased the company again from Suncorp so the OP may have luck with them as they may want to stop bad publicity.

Thanks,

I wanted to determine the level of success (or otherwise) of others before approaching Hookers about it. My preference is to negotiate a satisfactory resolution, and make a formal complaint only if it proved fruitless.

I'm sure Hookers would seek to avoid adverse publicity as much as possible (but on the other hand Tiger and Jet* blow that theory)

Yeah, Hookers won't drag things out like Amex and Jetstar.

I have done 2 rentals through them & got the points promptly both times... haven't made a sale though

4% commission more than cover the cost of QFF points awarded. No way I will pay 4%. May as well buy my own plane ticket on credit card (and earn points).

I had the same thing when buying a car from Trivett. Got all the prices sorted then as soon as I mentioned QFF points they very quickly said "yes, you can have them but it will cost $500".

I put my foot down and it all went smoothly, however I dare say if Qantas receive a few complaints that these salespeople are flogging off QFF points for a fee then they won't last as members for much longer.

So did you complain to QF?

Just find a better agent. They will probably get you a higher price and charge a fair commission.
I've found the better agents are often the independant ones as the Franchises offer little more than corporate badging.
