Wasn't sure this was worth posting.

Was on a QF flight to HKG in Y last week. During the meal service the attendant was putting milk back in the trolley when he let go of it a little bit too soon. It splashed and it went over my tray table and my arms that were resting on it.
With milk dripping down my arm he hands me several serviettes and points to the tray table. It was like he was more concerned with the table than me.
If there was an apology i did not hear it and there was no other offer of help to clean up the mess.
I note he was behind me so it would have been hard to offer much assistance without moving the cart but a simple tap on the shoulder and apology would have been nice.

I compare this to QF J domestic flight several years ago when I accidentally spilled water on myself as i was getting up. The flight attendant did everything possible to help clean up the water.

The contrast between the two is interesting.

The recent experience is somewhat disappointing from what i would have thought QF was like even in Y.
Should I have expected more?

I would have wiped my arms and left the table to the FA !!

Reminds me of an international J flight late last year. Had a flight attendant spill some wine on my armrest and one of my shoes. He didn't say a thing, but wiped only the armrest and moved on. Gave him the benefit of the doubt that he didn't notice the shoe.

While I'd always give the benefit of the doubt - doesn't seem much doubt he was aware milk was spilt so there should have been an apology at minimum. And it's not that hard to actually move the cart or ask his colleague to help the passenger.

My worst experience was in Y on Emirates. The plastic cup holding wine had a hole in it and started spilling everywhere on my lap and tray. The pax next to me pointed it out to the FA who simply handed another cup to put the first one in. Didn't bother to check but that cup had the same hole (so after 10 seconds it too started leaking - fortunately this time just on my tray). Took 5 minutes before the pax next to me was able to flag down the FA who eventually came and cleaned it up but with no apology.

That said, I am amazed that there aren't more accidents and spills onboard. Cabin crew generally excellent and (as a butter-fingers myself) I am often in awe of their balancing and pouring skills.

Yeah. I was just thinking about that overnight. He could have asked his colleague to assist but nope.
Kinda not what i thought QF was like really.
I hope i have a better experience on my way home next week.

May I recount my similar experience?

A few years ago I was in UA First SFO-SYD. The "senior" FA was serving tea with breakfast and was holding the pot while I poured myself milk. He accidentally tipped the pot such as the tea started pouring out the spout, over my lower legs. Fortunately I had a blanket over my legs and the tea landed on it. Of course I reacted; the FA merely said "Sorry" and moved onto the next passenger. I got myself some paper towels from the galley and mopped up the mess.

In my experience the seniors on UA in F usually append "Hun" or "Sweetie" !!!!

Seriously though I think CoS is not the issue, just the nature of some individuals and how they handle things - I've seen crew go out of their way to help pax (no matter whoose fault) in Y, J and F and others not so much (and varying airlines too). It takes all sorts in "Customer Service" roles I guess.

Imagine if it was Dom P 2003 that was spilt!
Now that would have been worth crying out loud for!
OP, did it ruin your clothing.
One last thing from me on this, maybe you could PM Red Roo for some feedback/advice, sometimes I do write to hotel frequent stay contacts, and get a reply that they would keep what I wrote in mind for future reference, truthfully if it gets passed further up the "food chain" I don't know, but it can't hurt to write.
After all, you chose to fly QF, and it was a QF staff member that did the boo boo.

Nothing ruined of mine, nice white stain on the seat back though. Just got on my arms and i mopped it up and cleaned up the tray table.

I do put a lot of loyalty in QF even when my VA SG brother tells me im stupid and should change. But i just bought some gift vouchers and have a around the world J ticket booked so i hope for better experiences to come.

Are we meant / allowed to PM REDROO. I thought it was a case of they reach out if they feel the need or only a mod can contact them and ask them for comments?

You're welcome to send me a private message anytime, and I'll do my best to assist wherever possible. :)

I was sorry to read about your unfortunate experience this morning, and had passed on the details to the relevant senior manager as reference. While they'll follow up internally, please accept my apologies on their behalf.

Thanks for clarifying RED ROO. Your feedback and help is always appreciated.

The incident was on DEC 26 on QF97 to be specific not this morning. I don't know the crew members name but i recall he was an older member of Asian appearance.

Sorry, I meant that I read your comment this morning and flagged it at that time. :)

Appreciate the additional information. I'll share this with the team too.

Years ago (QF still operated a 767 CHC-SYD) I wore the entirety of an ice bucket head to toe in freezing cold water.

Scored a t shirt and got to sit in business for the remainder of the flight as an apology!

It's not a nice experience having stuff fall on you!

QF to London a few years ago, wife had some red wine accidentally spilt on her jeans during service. Senior staff member arrived after it was 'cleaned' with soda water etc by embarrassed FA, with some cash to get jeans dry cleaned in London! Doubt that would happen these days

Shoutout to RedRoo he/she knows what they did. Just got in from my return flight.
Got a personal greeting from the CSM and CSS. The CSM (Brett i believe) was really nice and mentioned he had a note on file to apologize for the incident on my previous flight. Well looked after during the flight, offered champaign, kept checking in on us and an express card on arrival.
Job well done team. This is the service i remember and enjoy and why i like to fly QF.

PS. RedRoo must have some investigative skills to have figured out who i was or must have figured it out from an enquiry i had ages ago. Hopefully i dont have a black flag in my file saying difficult passenger.
