I became LTS several years ago whilst Platinum so my LTS card never saw the light of day and I never received a new one as I never actually dropped to silver. Recently I received my LTG card and as I am currently only at Gold level the card will see a lot more use and therefore wear out faster than my LTS card did.

Does QANTAS send a new LTG card each year or do I have to ask for a new card if this one starts getting old. Being 21 I don't think the card will last as long as I hope to!!

Fuark, 21yo with LTG, thats awesome, congratulations!

I'm 23yo with WP, and around 3300LTSCs, but then again, I don't fly for work. (all personal)

You’ve done very well at 21, though I’m sure you’ll feel robbed by 31 if they don’t offer CL or LTP :p

Thanks for sharing what the card looks like. I have a pic of an old-style card but seeing the new one makes me want to strive or it faster!

Would you like us to notify the Guiness Book of Records ?

Not particularly lol Took me 13 years to reach LTG so not particularly fast, just particularly young.
My main reason for posting was to find out if I will get a new card and if so how often.

If you don't mind; how? Lots of international family holidays? Genuinely intrigued.

In the past my SCs came from F or J family holidays; usually Europe twice a year + another international holiday and every year since I turned 12 we have had a SCUBA diving trip (sometimes up to four) every year (Often to Fiji or Great Barrier Reef but also been to Galapagos, Solomon Islands & Maldives)

Now I live/work in Melbourne whilst home is still really in Sydney, every few weeks I take a flexi fare Mel-Syd-Mel for the weekend. Combined with taking atleast one major trip of my own each year without the parents (This year it is MEL-xSIN-LHR-FRA-LHR-EWR/JFK-LHR-CDG-LHR-FCO-LHR-xSIN-MEL leaving on Wednesday traveling for 2 months) I still sometimes get to tag on to the family holidays.

I have been to nearly 40 countries, many of them multiple times.

I also flew a fair bit before 1999 so I don't know if they accrued SCs or if I was too young?

Keeping all of my flying to QANTAS or OneWorld helped too. I have been at least Gold every year since 1999 and WP for about 5 of them, the years I wasn't WP I came very close. I only fly other airlines if there is no other option or if the OneWorld option is stupidly expensive, isn't when I need to fly or is booked out.

Now if only I can get back up to WP! Enjoyed it while it lasted but most of my travel as a WP was with my family so I would have had access to the lounge as their guest. Only had a small number of flights on my own around the age of 18/19 as a WP. Been Gold the past couple of years (Just shy of WP though), Will fall short of WP again this year (ends in August), should make it back up to WP in my next year though.

Time for a Status Run

I am way off the mark for an SC run this year. This QF year I have only done:
MEL-LAX-JFK-HKG-MEL on a Classic Award in J
SYD-NAN-SYD on Virgin :( (Holiday booked by someone else)
SYD-LAX-JFK-LAX-SYD on a paid Y fare
MEL-CBR-MEL on paid J fare
9x SYD-MEL on Flexi-Fares
8x MEL-SYD on Flexi-Fares
Before the end of my year I will have the trip outlined earlier (MEL-xSIN-LHR-FRA-LHR-EWR/JFK-LHR-CDG-LHR-FCO-LHR-xSIN-MEL, some J & some Y w/ points upgrade requested) and another MEL-SYD-MEL Flexi trip. I think all up this would only just qualify me for Gold. And sadly I don't have many FF points, under 100,000 at the moment I think :(

To answer your original question - NO, you don't get a card every year. My 4 year old card hasn't worn out yet, so I have no idea what will happen if it ever does. I assume, that if I ask for one I'll get one. If not, i'm going to pretty pizzed orf.

You might get a comp!

But then again you mightn't care - having reached LTG at the ripe old age of 21 you might be feeling jaded like in the Ryan Bingham-Chief Pilot moment ;) :p

They do wear out, My gold card expires in Aug 2012 (The card I have from pre-LTG) has had the FF Number and Join Date almost worn off!

I am yet to see Up In The Air, really should rent it (Or see if it is on iTunes) however I don't feel I am jaded yet, I still love traveling, not much of a fan of airports (Although I do enjoy the Lounges!) but I still really enjoy flying.

It was on the QF IFE in February, maybe it is still on there as a classic :D

From one 21 year old to another...congratulations!

I am soon to be a silver member for the very first time :)

The next flight I take will actually knock me over to 4-digits in lifetime status credit accrual. A far cry from the 14,000 you have, but I've done all of my earning in Y!

I only hope that the lifetime Gold is still worth having when I get there. Currently circa 8500 so a way to go.
