LHR Transit

Hi,

Next month I'm flying into LHR from MEL in J on the Dreamliner via Perth. I land at Terminal 3 just after 05:00, then have a BA flight to BCN also from Terminal 3 leaving at 09:30, but on a separate booking.

Can anyone tell me how I do the transit? Never done one like this at LHR. I'm QF gold if that is relevant re options.

If you have checked luggage, you will need to clear customs and immigration at T3, collect bags and recheck them in. I think you can transit at T3 without a BP (can't remember 100%) and get your BP to Bcn at the Ba lounge. Another option is to do OLCI for your BA flight, and print the BP at Per. Not sure if the Ba app allowos an electronic BP....if your inbound is late (but you have 4.5 hour buffer whch should be plenty)....good luck as your Ba flight is not protected

Ask at checkin if QF will connect luggage straight through to BCN and issue the BP, however technically they currently don't when on separate bookings. Although I've certainly had them do it for me (they didn't even ask, just did it!).

The BA app will allow for electronic BP so that may be the go if QF wont print the BP, but that doesn't really help you if you've still got to collect the bag and re-checkin. If you're travelling hand luggage only, then you definitely want to make your life easier and get the app to aquire boarding pass.

If the bag has been checked through, then it's super simple, follow the purple "flight connections" signage back up into T3 departures level (involves repeat security screen). The go to lounge/gate!

If QF cant/wont check you in / check bag through, then you're heading to arrivals, going through immigration (can be slow - look for the express queue although it's often no faster than the regular queue), collecting suitcase, and then going to BA checkin, bag drop, security screen etc.
