Hi - does anyone know anything further about when the new LHR Terminal 3 lounge is opening

Qantas' new London Heathrow lounge opens next month

In this article it says

The lounge will cater for just two Qantas flights: QF2 to Sydney via Dubai (and from the end of March 2018, Singapore) which leaves at 9.45pm; and the new QF9 London-Perth non-stop Boeing 787 service which will be wheels-up at 1.30pm.

Does that mean that it will not open for the QF10 departure?

Also I want to stay in a good hotel close to the airport that has CD (I don't want to catch the Hoppa as I will have a couple of heavy suitcases) - does anyone know if you can get CD from any of the really close hotels like the Hilton's

Failing that the Hilton Terminal 5 - can you grab and trolley and walk through to Terminal 3 (or any other suggestions)

And finally has anyone successfully use the CD the day before to get to the airport to stay overnight (I could possibly then just get a taxi from the hotel to Terminal 3)

TIA

The mention of QF9 is a typo. QF9 will be PER-LHR. QF10 is the LHR-PER flight.

If you are getting CD for free as part of your ticket, why do you need to stay so close to LHR? I would just stay somewhere in West London if travel time is an issue...

Also, I assume you know that LHR T2/T3, T4 and T5 are separated by a large distance and therefore the only way to transfer between terminals landside is by train. You will not be able to transfer airside.

Mainly because I have to drop the car at LHR the night before and I want to stay somewhere close to maximise my sleeping time

In terms of hotels, I would avoid Hilton T5 it's out in the middle of nowhere with no links but the Hoppa. The Sofitel T5 is an option as you can walk to T5, catch the free transfer to T3 easily. Absent that, if looking at Hiltons, I'd go for Hilton Garden Inn Hatton Cross as within walking distance to Hatton Cross tube station which is 1 stop away but a little impractical with suitcases or a hotel on the free red bus routes from the central bus terminus with the free zone ending around the Ibis on Bath Rd which should be closer to car hire dropoffs.

If CD = chauffeur drive and you have a ticket with free CD the world is your oyster. Uber is pretty cheap if you wanted to uber back toward town and stay perhaps at Hilton Olympia or Wembley which wouldn't be too far from LHR and are good value properties.
