I have an interesting conundrum I've puzzled over for a few weeks now. Have a lightning 6 day trip for work from LHR to either BNE/SYD/MEL in February. Part of my flight will be covered but, as the trip is more for career development, I don't mind if I don't make money on the trip and would like to arrive well-rested (also straight back into work in London upon my return.)

Options include: Phillipines J for £2,260 including an overnight in Manila on return; Korean J for £2,460 incl overnight in Incheon; Swiss/SQ for £2,650; CX for £2,719. There's even CX Premium Y for just shy of £2k.

I'm QF WP but will have retained by then so, while Flounge access would be nice it's not the most important.

What would you guys do? Obviously Phillipines is considerably cheaper but I'm aware the LHR-MNL legs are angle flat.interested to hear opinions...

Go for full flat if you want max comfort. Is KE full flat ICN-Au?

I believe it is fully flat. I suppose what I didn't convey in the OP is that, of course, I'd rather spend less of my own cash. Obviously SQ/CX>KE>PAL but does that warrant spending an extra £500. J on phillipines is probably still far superior to Y on either SQ or CX...

I'd agree - but... you know when you hit that peak of tiredness and all you wanna do is lie down and go to sleep? If you're like me you'd be wishing you'd spent the £100 each way for KE over PR! Angled lie flats can be cruel... so close yet so far. (Not a problem if you can sleep happily on your back and not slide down :))

Personally i'd so Swiss/SQ or CX as there are more frequent options in event of plane breakdown / misconnect (and you are travelling for work so it's important to get there!).

Given the QFWP status, i'd choose CX over Swiss/SQ (both are a better product than PR even though it's more expensive)
