Hi Guys, any tips or experiences on leaving an iPad (or similar electornic device) on an aircraft?
I flew back from brissy on Friday and left my iPad in the seat pocket!
I have rung baggage services (not the lost property line, they were closed, close at 1pm) and they said they couldn't see it....but it could be at any airport around the country now!

Isn't there a locator app? I read of someone tracking their iPad that way.

Only works if the battery is still active or on charge. Seeing OP's flight was Friday I'm not sure it would be either switched on or with charge given the time that has lapsed.

Not long ago left my iPad and Bose QC15's in the seat pocket. Realised the moment I got home and phoned Baggage services. Both items handed in and kept until my next flight.

It was Syd-Per QF and the Per baggage people were great.

Breathe a sigh of relief you now have an excuse to buy a real tablet :p

Nah, j/k ... sorry to hear about it, but yes, check with lost and found / baggage services. Most people are honest.

I left mine in seat pocket on flight SYD-MNL...got it back 2 hours later at the Qantas office in Manila airport! Nice job Qantas staff there!

Left mine on an AA flight from LGA to ORD. Didn't notice it until I got to the Flagship lounge. In amongst a major kerfuffle due to lots of cancelled flights, a nice lady on the desk managed to track it down, to my great relief.

Last time I flew QF I FOUND an Ipad in my seat pocket!

My excitement was quickly tempered by the fact that EVERY seat pocket had one!

I left a Kindle on a QF flight last year. Qantas had phoned me before I got home and had it waiting for me at baggage services.

Was a guy on our flight yesterday, raced up to the FA said "someone left this behind" problem was it as a Q one :).

Any updates?

The problem with the "find my iPhone" app is that the device needs to be connected to the internet to track it down. If it has been put in flight mode (as all electronic devices are on descent) and has a passcode (which all tablets should have - unless no internet connection and is used only by small child) - even if someone is honest and turns it on to find out whose it is - they wont be able to get past the passcode...

I left my ipad on a QF flight in CBR. Baggage services could not help, so i rang the QF staff at the terminal direct. They had it!

All lost and found is logged at the end of each leg - keep ringing the airline. Someone must be able to look in the database.

Perhaps I can assist. Please private message the details so I can follow up for you.

I left mine a month ago at Security on the non-Schengen side of HEL airport and only after I cleared immigration did I realised I left it behind.

Easy enough getting it back. Now my passport just has three stamps from HEL on the same day!

Last year i left the laptop out of its bag and under the seat in front on a QF flight to Perth

I did not realise until i got to the hotel room later in the day and opened the laptop bag to find that it was not there! It took about a doze phone calls to find the lost property at Perth airport where the laptop had fortunately been handed in by crew.

Amazing timing this thread...

Yesterday I flew DXB-AMM-LHR on RJ. Transit in AMM was quick and painless.

Got to lounge, relaxed for a bit, headed to gate T-60. Got to gate, went to get out iPad, not in bag, eek.

What to do? Boarding is to be called in 5-10 mins, no idea where to even begin reporting it lost. First thought was Ok well that sucks, I'll have to replace it in LOTFAP in a few days and file an insurance claim. Then a more rational thought hits me and I go off looking for an information desk. I find an RJ luggage counter and try and explain my situation to the clerk, however it seems he doesn't speak much (any?) English. So I get a notepad/pen out of my bag and write down my name, incoming flight number, seat number, to/from (DXB-AMM), ongoing flight number and to/from (AMM-LHR) and a description of my iPad (it has a blue cover) and the word LOST in capitals.

He smiles at me, I smile back. I'm not sure if he understood anything I said, or what he would do with the piece of paper I had written all the details on. I tried asking for a manager, he again didn't reply and smiled at me.

I left the desk feeling quite down and resigned to the fact I'd be buying a replacement in a few days.

Walked back to the gate as boarding was called. Stood in the line for about 10 minutes. As I arrived at the gate and presented my boarding pass and passport to the agent, they were scanned and returned to me, along with my iPad! I was then asked to step aside and sign a form saying that I had collected it.

I couldn't believe it.

Hats off to the whole RJ AMM crew!

I left my iPad on a Jetstar flight DRW - DPS once... Panicked, thought i'd lost it, when I jumped on the return flight they handed it back to me!

Unfortunately, the same iPad went "missing" after going through the TSA line/xray scanner at LAX.

I couldn't go back through to report it to LAPD, so reported it to AirNZ who said they have a few a week go missing in the exact same way.

No problem, make an Travel Insurance claim with Covermore, who write back to say, granting the claim, but "depreciating" the cost of the iPad down to $187.

*cough*
