For London stay in October, Le Meridian Picadilly seems an attractive Starwood property and they do have a buy 4 get 2 free offer, but the hotel reviews are a concern with many complaints of it being an old tired hotel (this is London after all). One of our favourites used to be the intercontinental Westminster which is now a Conrad. This is a new hotel only 2 years or so with good modern rooms and the lounge and restaurants were good.

Anyone care to offer opinions?

Le Meridien Picadilly

Pros
great central location
suites are nice and spacious, a little convoluted layouts though
club rooms are on level 1 ISTR so potentially noisy but I think very recently renovated

Cons
old
basic rooms are small, need to be in larger rooms e.g. suites
lots of shower over baths
exec lounge nuthin to get excited about (breakfast limited continental - no hot items, small area, crowded; only useful to get some soft drinks, machine coffee etc)

Have been fortunate to have managed to use platinum suite upgrade credits to stay only in suites so far....luck will run out eventually

Not a fan at all. Would look elsewhere if budget permits. Its in a great location true, but the rooms are tired and there are much better options in London.

Not a fan of Le Meridian either. Nothing works, indifferent staff. Good location though. For a big chain hotel, we like the Sofitel St James.

Thank you all!

We were considering a suite on the buy 4 get 2 free deals but I think your collected comments have confirmed my suspicions and reviews I've read. Some London hotels are very dated and this sounds like one of them. Pity the location was good.

We've decided to go back to the Conrad St James at Westminster. Was very happy with this last few times we stayed there when it was an Intercontinental.

They have some advanced purchase deals on one bedroom suites etc. Unfortunately we have dropped to OP status with Hilton a few years ago (and they have expired my previous points :( ) so no upgrade possibilities. Just money.

Never stayed at Le Meridian but I agree with your assessment of the Conrad. It's a superb hotel, great staff, great lounge.
