Hi All,

Leaving LAX to melbs tonight and have made it to platinum status, yay!

Just wondering if there are any benefits the new status gives me at LAX?

Unfortunately our fares were not fully flexible, so I don't think I can use the complementary upgrades.

Cheers,

Steve

You qualify for access the First lounge at LAX.

When did you reach Plat? If very recently, if it hasn't propagated within the 'system' it may not print out on the BP and you may be denied access. In this case, it may or may not help to take a hard copy showing your status, but take it anyway (eg page from your QFF account).

Its a VIRGIN VELOCITY question???

As a WP you have access to the *A lounge operated by AirNZ including the small F section.

Is the VA WP status showing on you account? Generally it takes less than 24 hours after the qualifying travel posts.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Oh, Gawd. Apologies to the OP; its early. I'll delete, but that won't totally expunge my embarrassment.

But there was really no reason to SHOUT in your post.

Keep calm and carry on. ;)

Trust me, I'm very calm and not shouting. I grew up in an era where using caps was to highlight a word or point. The more aggressive 'meaning' of caps has been brought about/introduced by a certain other generation, which I refuse to adhere to. Carry on. Bye Bye:)

I thought WP 4 x comp upgrades were only available on domestic and trans con flights so no, you wouldnt be able to use them on your LAX flights.

At LAX, there is a "F" lounge, which is really a closed off room that is quieter than the J lounge and you can order your meal from a menu/table service but I actually prefer the outdoor J lounge deck. You get a pin number to enter/leave the F lounge to access the J.

And you now get 100% bonus points on your flights - thats always a good thing, especially if you want to try to upgrade for your return flight.

Have a good flight!

Oh I also add that when you approach the lounge and they tell you to enter, ask about the F if they dont mention it first.

Me: Dont we have access to the F lounge, being Platinum?
Agent: Oh yes. Wait here and I will see if you can go in as the numbers are limited.

We got access to find only 2 other people in there.

Yep, we went to the main entrance and said that we'd just been made up to platinum and that we could enter the F lounge. She sent us straight over.
Have had a lovely meal and a couple of bevvies.
Now sitting in the outdoor terrace, will be going back for more cheese and wine shortly.
Thanks folks!

The terrace is my favourite part of the LAX *alliance lounge. Enjoy the flight!

My last visit, I was the only one sitting out there. Love it, last bit of fresh air (aviation fuel aside) before the long flight home.
