Travelling up from San Diego during day for 08:20 am Qantas flight to NYC next morning. Seems best option is stay close to LAX and then as a QC member get to airport early that morning via airport shuttle for breakfast etc. Any thoughts on Marriott Courtyard V Hyatt Regency for example? Would ideally love a day rate like 9 am to 9 am but only ones I have seen are for several hours during day and not overnight.

Hyatt Regency, Courtyard by Marriott - both walking distance which for me is preferable to a bus or car. About 5 mins from the end of Terminal 1.

Im a fan of Hilton LAX but we're diamond so we get lounge ect. By memory I emailed their reservation desk for the day room/overnight to be confirmed/same room and would stay/do again.

... and about 10 minutes from TBIT.

I stay there frequently (as a Globalist I get Regency Club (lounge) access including breakfast).

The only issue with walking would be if you have significant amounts of luggage. They do have a shuttle (they team up with the Quick Park next door).

Another option is to lug your bags to T1 and catch the 'A' bus (or 'C' or 'G') the rest of the way to TBIT.

We have stayed at the Hilton when a diamond and the Sheraton as a platinum but the best sleep was at the Radisson-on points after our Scandinavian adventures netted us enough points for a free night.Just as well I checked it is now the Concourse hotel which is said to be a Hyatt affiliate.

I've stayed at the Marriot LAX, where I dropped off my Hertz car - very good hotel, though there are no shops close by if one wants snacks or munchies during the night. Expensive car parking.

And I've stayed at the Best Western Plus Suites LAX - not the nicest area, but shops and takeaways like 7/11 and Panda Express across the road made it good for me. Rooms were very big, car parking was $12 a day, and I liked their free breakfast.

Both have shuttles of course.
Regards,
Renato

Yep, munchies not an issue and I see Marriot has a "bistro". Just looking for a quick meal that night and maybe a drink or three but the options do seem a bit limited in the area. Not a big deal and just means will treat it simply as a place to rest, at a price, between flights

That's a difference between you and me - when I think of a drink at night, I'm thinking of chocolate milk drinks.

I'd suggest the Marriott. There is a service station within 200m that has snacks.

The food at the bar was more than adequate.

You and my wife are in full agreement!

Though I did say to my wife, " I am glad that you are really enjoying this place compared to down the road (i.e. Best Western), but I am glad that we are leaving tonight as this place is sending me broke (i.e. breakfast and lunch prices, though dinner price was okay)".

I much preferred the free breakfast at Best Western, which was very filling and especially their scrambled eggs - made the same way my dad taught me - eggs and butter. Not the Aussie way of eggs, milk and butter.
Cheers,
Renato

The Denny's 750m West of the hotel might be an option?

Thanks. If only I had known!

Anyhow, another main feature of the hotel I've booked in Tokyo next year is that it has a Dennys down the road.

Renato
