Presently sitting in LAX F lounge, just waiting for QF16 in about 10 drinks time, I was on a AA flight from ORD-LAX today and always continue to be amazed by the size of the carry on bags that AA allow, especially for smaller size women, who seem to have the larger bags and seem to be u nable to lift them into the overhead bins and have to rely on a 'friendly male" or a FA to do the job for them, wonder what the FA union says about this as they seem to be doing it all the time?
Just noticed the flight to MEL QF94 has been cancelled, not sure why?

Yesterday's QF93 had issues in Melbourne, and didn't depart. So, no aircraft in LA to do the 94.

The weight restriction for carry-on was 40 lbs (18kg) with AA, at one time, but reference to that seems to have been removed from their website.

There are still size restrictions (22"x14"x9"), but not really enforced. As long as it fits into the overhead it seems to be okay. There's always someone who will assist in getting it into the bin.

Amazing how first outbound flt delays / cancellations crucify you - last inbound flt delays / cancellations reason for massive rejoicement! IMHO of course.

That's what you get when economy fares don't have baggage included. it's really made US economy travel terrible. It's created more people pushing and shoving to get on, queueing up early even though they are boarding group 6, and then if you do get seated up front early, you get the pleasure of being battered by everyone lugging these huge bags down the aisle.

Don't get me started on holiday flying in the States.

The only time I've seen it enforced, as in check using the basket size thing, was on a flight out of CLT, 'full flight' and they were looking for 20 odd people to gate check their bags. But for the most part, it does seem to be a free for all.
