I know I'm probably being lazy but all the threads I have found on searching relate to people still holding onto their old Westpac KF cards.

I need to get a second credit card account and would like something that (somehow) gets me KF points, be that via a rewards scheme that converts to KF points or Velocity points that can be later transferred 1:1.35 to KF. Ideally one that can be used for ATO payments but that's not crucial.
What are people doing these days to get KF via CC spend? I'm happy with any option be it a super cheap card with few benefits to one with a high annual fee with lots...

Amex Edge is good.

Citi Prestige is a winner for non ATO spend. It is 1.33 points per dollar spend (excluding ATO )for Kris Miles. You can warehouse the points to avoid expiry.
There is an income requirement and the card fee is high.

Amex Edge is good.

Got to agree with burmans here.. I run Plat edge and Citibank Signature together, does the job.

For ATO payments you need to go for a higher priced annual fee card such as the Citibank Prestige.

Edit: I'm wrong :) Don't go Presitge

It would help to know where the majority of your spend is also.

If your spend is predominantly supermarket and petrol then you can't go past the Amex Platinum Edge card as burmans suggested.

If your spend is mostly in restaurants, the Amex Velocity Platinum comes to mind which currently has a HUGE 110K bonus point offer via a referral (would convert to 81000 odd KF points) and you earn 3 Velocity points per dollar in restaurants.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

My three main cards (i.e. I have more but they were just for the signon bonus), are the Edge, the Citi Signature and the Westpac KF. Edge is for anywhere I can use a BigW/WW e-card and those places I can buy further giftcards at Woorlworths (e.g. Myers, DJ's to name just a couple) or pay at WW (phone pre-pays, Opal Topups etc), surprising how much money you can put through this if you think creatively, the e-gift cards obtained via the Entertainment book at 5% off (occasionally 7.5%) and 3ppd. Westpac KF get used for "other" Amex Spend, including Paypal. Citi signature anywhere that does not take Amex.

Edge fee gets covered by the free flight, Citi Sig no fee and Westpac KF half fee.

I actually used to have the Westpac KF card as well but turfed it.

I hit the gift cards pretty hard last year but haven't been as diligent this year. Need to lift my game.

Ouch hummel ! Westpac Platinum Kris Flyer is no longer issued and it pays 1.25 Kris Miles on the Amex per dollar which is still quite ok for ATO.

If everyone had your ATO spend they'd find it easy to justify but I suspect not everyone does!

burmans I have sent you several 20,000 Velocity points sign ups in the last 10 days. Tonight my son had a go on your referral. He may become a Velocity fiend by signing up the whole floor of workers at his workplace while we are in the U.S.
One of our colleagues thinks he will get at least 100,000 points from referrals in the next two weeks.
I really need to stop paying taxes as it is affecting my cash at bank.

Ah yes, I really dont begrudge you the points you earn via ATO payments, well not that much. My reduced spend though has meant I have a signature (fee free) vs the Prestige from Citi and I did even question the Annual Fee on the Westpac KF. My point wasn't to knock you (thats a problem we'd all like to have) but rather to note that circumstance & how much money you put through your cards do definitely affect which cards you have and also how many you have.

On the referrals, thanks for these, all very greatfully accepted!! Thats good for me as my current ATO load very much down having accepted a permanent role.

I could only hope I was turning over as much as you to pay those big ATO bills! :p

ANZ Rewards pays 1.11 KF points via Amex and 0.74 KF points via Visa (however you need transfer via Virgin as it's a better rate then direct to Krisflyer) It's also good for ATO.
