Hi,

Just booked airfares for myself and 2 friends to Koh Samui in May / June. ( DSC of course )
Aiming for a warm, relaxing holiday, enjoying afternoon coughtails !!

Haven’t been to KS before.

I always have trouble deceiding on hotels.

Want something on the beach ( also a nice swimming beach )
Plenty of sun loungers beside the pool
Breakfast included
Resonably close to airport, but not necessarily in a busy part of town

So far I’ve had a recommendation for Chewang Regent Resort.

Would love some suggestions

TQ

Personally, I have not been to Koh Samui for 25 years. Way back in the backpacker days. But my sister, brother and families have visited in the past 12 months.
They both stayed at Muang Samui resort (spelling?) Which is not cheap, but certainly not super expensive. Airport about 20 minutes away. Seen the pics, looks great and they recommend it. But it is right smack in the middle of "hotel strip" so to speak. On the eastern side of the island.

As I said, for me been a long time, but I would look at places on the north or southern side, if you want peace and quiet. Might be 45 minutes to an hour to the airport at most. But that's me, if I was going to go, I would look at something a little secluded, but on the upper side of comfortable. Meaning no clubs, backpacker bars or strip malls nearby.

Hi Boca68,

Thanks for that. I’ll definitely look into the more secluded spots

Along these lines I recommend staying at Lipa Noi which is on the eastern side.

Quiet, but with enough restaurants and cafes to select from. Including on the beach,

Beach is excellent in terms of both sand and water and does not dry out low tide like many beaches on the island.

Laid back and never crowded. But if you want nightclub action and hustle and bustle it will not be for you.

We visited last Easter and stayed at 3 hotels in total. Two were on northern beaches. They were ok, but Lipa Noi we liked the best.

So....very interesting trying to please everyone when booking accomodation for a group holiday.

However, we booked the Chewang Regent Beach Resort.

Fingers crossed it suits everyone....but if not, there is always the coughtails. Haha.

Thanks for your suggestions

TQ

You'll be fine there, right in the middle of Chaweng, easy walk along the main road for restaurants, cafes and shopping, plus the big Central Festival mall is nearby (there is a Tops Supermarket there, good for booze, food and groceries etc)
Its an easy 10-15 minutes max to Samui Airport (10 minutes airport to hotel, 15 minutes hotel back to airport because of the long one way road where you're staying)

Suggestions:
Take an evening out at Fishermen's Village on Bo Phut beach. Coco Tam's bar for sunset drinks overlooking the beach, and maybe try Link Restaurant a few minutes walk up the road for dinner (also overlooking the sea)

There's a few beach clubs at some of the resorts around the island too, they're good for chilling out for hours and lazing by a pool/beach/bar

Was in Samui for three months late last year for work, so feel free to ask questions.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

2005 we stayed at Napasai (Orient Express), now owned by Belmond. We were happy with the stay.... 13 years later its still rating pretty high on TA.
