KLIA implements gender segregation for security checks

It's all about who does the (somewhat perfunctory) patdown. I suspect most passengers (and security guards) would think it more proper to have this done by someone of the same sex.

Morocco did the same as well.

Sure but what happens when mum travels with young boys or when father travels with young daughter

That wasn't an issue for us but I imagine custom would dictate boys are searched by men and the girls by women. If that would be intolerable then I guess those flights/countries should be avoided.

Different lines? :/

Doesn't sound good.
How would this work when name, ID and travel docs say one gender but appearance suggests another?

The article linked is referring to a blog. And said blog is a load of bunkum.

Many airports will only wave someone through the body scanner when someone of the same gender is free to do a pat down if necessary.

It happened to me a few times in KUL last month. The men were waved through whilst the female security guard finished with another female pax.

Now back to our regular news ...

Back in the 80s there was gender separation for security in Taiwan.Except that the men were patted down by young women and the women by old men.
I wasn't allowed to go back and have a second pat down.:p;)
