A Friend and I are off to coughet for a boys week away riding motor bikes and sight seeing and are looking at flying MH via KL with me as a WP, my friend as an NB and have the following questions if people could assist would be much appreciated,

1) Can I Guest him into the First Lounge we are flying in Y.

2) Arrival is 8 PM what time does the lounge close?

3) Departure is 09.10 am following morning.

4) Can we sleep in the lounge in the Nap Area?

5) How good are the facilities in the lounge?

Look forward to some feedback and help.

Many thanks

Emeralds can guest one into the First lounge. Apparently it's open 24 hours and there are naps areas, which I haven't tried (going off other online reviews which you'll find more detailed and helpful). Showers are fine. The self-serve food is very tight, ie some crackers, cheese, mini cakes and so on (there's a lot more in the Business lounge) so you'll be off to the dining room for proper a la carte. The food there is all right if also a little limited, I've found the service there earnest but shaky especially when trying to order alcohol.

Generally I've always found it to be a really quiet lounge on the several occasions I've been there this year, with staff on hand to help with drinks. Lots of big plush chairs with distance between them to spread out and look over the tarmac.

Thanks for that will make sure I report back on the lounge and nap area should we end up going this way.

As an indication QF via SIN to HKT wanted almost $1100.0 each whereas have fond a deal via MH or STA for less than $650.00 each. Ys not as many points etc but as this is likely to be my last year as WP and having LTG in the bag the money is much better in my pocket than Qantas plus get to see the MH first lounge one more off of the bucket list.

I have a few photos of the lounge but nothing better than what's on the multitude of online reviews. Should give you an idea, the lounge feels almost too lonely, the dining area has white linen tables (feels like a hotel restaurant) almost too closely spaced together and I liked the wonton noodle soup there but it's not in the league of the QF F lounges. Of course I had to go into the MH F lounge but the J side has a make to order noodle bar as well as some enjoyable buffet chicken rice and similar fare on a previous visit.

Can definitely sympathise with high QF fares. Been a while since I've flown MH Y but the food and service in J is really good IMHO. Enjoy the bikes, hope you have cover sorted :)

Yes we have insurance for the bikes and no not expecting a QF F Lounge experience just hope to make use of the Nap room, and well we can slum it in the business Lounge if we must ROFLMAO.

Sadly she who MUST be obeyed said Y ONLY lol

If worse comes to worse I am sure there is KFC etc somewhere in the Terminal LOL

Thanks again

Cheers

The First Class section is open 24 hours. The dining room opens at 7am and closes at 11pm. You can also access the buffet in the business class section at any time (it runs 24 hours but the noodle bar only opens from 7am). WPs can guest 1 person on the same flight even when flying in Y. The renovated lounge now has sleep areas but they are no longer closed rooms like before, so not as private. The new F showers are infinitely better than the old ones. I always enjoy visiting this lounge. Usually quiet and staff are friendly.

Your questions have basically been answered, by to summarise and add a few things:
  1. Yes, as per oneworld rules
  2. It does not close, for F&B you need to use the J offerings in the 'wee hours' (as per @MH_fan's reply)
  3. boarding may commence from 8:30am
  4. Yes, but BYO ear plugs and eye masks (although they may have some at the front desk). The 'day room dorm' seems to back wall to wall a service facility (Kitchen?) and often there can be thumps and bumps like cupboard doors being closed and other noises.
  5. Facilities are fine, OK showers - small menu with limited options in the dining room.
