Just got this interesting offer in my email 2 minutes after requalifying for VA Gold from July 2018.

I'm currently on 952 SC and already achieved the required Eligible Sectors. With this offer, I'd just need to reach 973 SC by Nov 4 to upgrade to Platinum.

Out of interest, has anyone received this 'mini-challenge' before?

Personally I've got 40 SC due in 10 days anyway, which will get me to 992 SC. So even without this offer, I think I'd get close enough. But I guess it's good to know I've got it in the bag now.

Looking forward to my first Platinum status ever, even if it's just VA!

I wonder what the trigger for this is? did you accumulate the 952 up quickly?

No such "loving" in my case.
I have been VA/VFF PS before (few years back now), and am now sitting on 233 VFF SC, but no offer to PS.
Not even a comp PS!
Someone hand me a "kleenex".

I never had this offer but VA gave me Platinum anyway when I reached 986SCs.

Are you sure the computer/work experience kid didnt just mess up the calculation for required SCs?

To me (and I didn't get it) it looks like VA isn't giving you a special discounted offer, but just telling you how much to go to reach WP the normal way (and mucking it up). I would have thought if they were going to discount the SCs requirement, they would make it a rounded-off number.

Or has the lid slipped on the actual number of SCs that VA will take a look at your account and decide your WP status? Many reports of people being upgraded early before the actual milestone hits (including me, up to SG)

While that is possible, I don't think it is because:

1) They say 'to enjoy the benefits of Platinum sooner'
2) They specify 'in the next two weeks', but the next time my previous SC's expire will be in January 2018 and there's nothing interesting happening against my account in two weeks.

or

3) Their IT glitch is so big that just everything in that email is wrong :D

I have not been feeling the love (yet)... been a plat for a number of years, but stupidly only flew 7 VA flights last year (most of my flying is on SQ). All this year been working to get back to enough SCs to requalify. Have enough VA sectors now, but keep falling just short of the 1000.... I am flying about as much as I did last year, so SCs keep expiring as I earn them :(

I did get a lovely email the other day with some interesting infographics in it:

So hoping for the best.

Sure, why would you bother? According to ABT the the new Qantas Dreamliner is going to blow all competition out of the water!!

I got this too! Except I'm at 961SCs and the e-mail reads as follows... Go figure!

"You could soon be experiencing the benefits of Platinum membership.
To upgrade and enjoy the added benefits of Platinum sooner, an additional 388 Status Credits# and flying the required number of Eligible Sectors^ are needed in the next 6 months."

I've been renewed or upgraded a few times before reaching the actual magic amount, but it's only been because I've had enough travel already booked that would have ticked me over anyway.

I was automatically given gold at 488sc earlier this year, I'll be a shade over 800 by Feb, don't think I'll make it to plat though....

no gimme for me :(

Even for VA's amazing systems, that is a new low!

I just received an email from velocity with the subject line "You are so close to achieving Platinum membership".

You could soon be experiencing the benefits of Platinum membership.
To upgrade and enjoy the added benefits of Platinum sooner, an additional 96 Status Credits# and flying the required number of Eligible Sectors^ are needed in the next 2 weeks.

The email says it's "as at 14 Jan 2018" next to the velocity points amount, and at that point in time I had 657 SCs. I've since had a retro claim (activity 2 jan, processed 15 Jan) of 160SCs added to bring my total to 817SCs.

What experience have other people had with these emails that look to be targeted at individuals?
The T's and C's don't outline what dates the offer applies to, so I'm confused.
Does my 160SCs credited on the 15th Jan count towards this?
I'm really keen to shoot for Plat now, but want to know the exact details....

I called the membership centre to confirm exactly what was required and they could only say "forward the email to us, so we can confirm the details and we'll get back to you". Pretty piss poor that it isn't detailed on their database so they could look it up straight away.

Does anyone else have experience with this kind of offer?
