I could book SYD-SIN-DXB return as a single itinerary online but I wanted mixed class so I purchased separate tickets

I asked the call centre if they could join the tickets and they said no - does anyone know why that would be? I purchased J and Y+, then upgraded all legs on points

I'm a bit concerned because the transfer time between landing in SIN and flying out to DXB is only 1 hour

Can I assume that I will be checked in to both flights at SYD?

SIN is an efficient airport but 1 hour is just on the minimum connection time allowed and I wouldn't risk that connection on the same booking let alone separate bookings. Any delays to the inbound flight and you will struggle to make it in time for boarding.

Should be able to check in for both flights in SYD.

Good luck.

Thanks JohnK. I am not flying until Sept 2017 so I will think about what to do (or more likely, I'll obsess over it and call SQ again and try to figure it out)

Minimum connecting time at SIN is 45 mins for SQ-SQ. Gate closes 10 mins before. As long as the inbound is more or less on time it's easily doable. If your inbound is late make sure you alert the crew so they can facilitate priority disembarkation if possible.

As for ticketing - two separate tickets can't be combined into a single PNR once issued. Not just on SQ but most airlines.

What you can do is link the 2 PNR's together. I did that a couple of days ago with SQ. Allows easy check through baggage, allows the next flight dispatcher to see what flight you're connecting from etc.

Call SQ to do this.

What did you say to get them to do this? I have two PNRs with a 3 hour connection this weekend but SQ are saying they can't link the PNRs.

Turned out it wasn't an issue. At check in in Sydney they could see my destination even though it was booked on two PNRs.
