Does anyone know what J seats are like on the JL772? And if so, best seats to select?

I'm on JL 711 NRT-SIN in January.

It was a 767 but equipment has changed to a 777-200/200ER.

Seat guru says J is a 2-3-2 config on some Of the fleet and 2-4-2 on others. Perish the thought.

JL website says it's Sky Suite II, but the contradicts itself by saying Sky Suite II is only on the 767 fleet.

And just to add further confusion, the seat map in my JL booking shows 1-2-1 as below.

What to believe and what seats to choose?

Ignore seat guru. It has become increasingly outdated for anything non North-American.

The configuration shown by the seat map of 1-2-1 is the skysuite III (as opposed to II). It shows on JAL's fleet page: https://www.jal.co.jp/en/aircraft/conf/777er.html

Thanks. That's not the page I found on the JL site so I appreciate the link.

Those seem okay and I figure from what's currently available row 4 in the middle of that first cabin should be okay.

Agree. Row 4, 5 or 6 would be optimal. The further back is not so much a problem with WC traffic, but rather engine noise.

5ADG would be another option, avoiding the increased traffic on the right side to and from the front galley.

Why does left/right make a difference if the galley is at the front?

The galley is at the front on the right hand side. Increased crew activity down that aisle to get to and from the galley. The front left will be a WC.

actually... if the party of three doesn't have a child who needs immediate assistance/supervision, I'd go for two windows and one in the middle. I would take 5AD and 6A. The middle seats are not conducive to pax talking to each other, and there is no crossover between the aisles except through the passageways at the doors. 5AD+6A allows all pax to board and deplane together, get up and chat easily if needed, and you control 2 windows. Being stuck in the middle isn't all that great, and the middle seats never appear as spacious as their wondow counterparts.

if you have a child in the party, go for the ADG, it's slightly easier to make sure the child has their seat belt on and stays seated in the DG seats.

I'm also flying on this in October, but for some reason, I can't access the booking on the JAL web site.

The booking was made through QF as a DONE4, but I am using the booking reference that relates to the JL flight (HNL-NRT)

Any clues?

I haven't had problems before accessing JL's manage booking function. Is there a QF booking reference? Also try any different variants of your name, including adding full or part middle name - no spaces - to your first name (if applicable).

Thanks. There appear to be two different pages for booking confirmation - found the second one by cunningly going through the main site, selecting Australia as my location and then ensuring no spaces did the trick. Surprisingly, that didn't work wherever I was before.

I've seen this before with AA(.com). Using the AU site the QF record locator wouldn't work. Go to the US site and it worked.
