September debut for Jetstar

Jetstar will take delivery of its first Boeing 787 towards the end of September, marking the start of an extensive fleet renewal for both the low-cost carrier and its parent Qantas....

Jetstar will pick up a further two 787s by year's end....

I can't wait to see the 787s in Australian skies!

I can't wait to see the 787s in Australian skies!

Mostly in Air India colours if todays news indicating August flights for them turns into reality.

AJ was apparently at Boeing (Port Melb / Fisherman's Bend) today to view the "flaps" being built. TV news crews there so should make nightly news bulletins....

The Li-ion batteries will make the cabins pretty toasty ;)

Anyhoo I'm willing to take a punt and ride one of these 787's soon ;)

QF really should 'borrow' some of these from JQ to do a bunch of domestic runs for easy publicity!

What a waste going to Jet*...

But then again, living in Perth and with only one Int QF flight a day, probably more likely to get to ride one in Jet* colours anyway, even if squished aboard a bit....

I thought JQ will be replacing the A330 with the B787 on the international routes from SYD/MEL/CNS/OOL?

I don't get it.

QF 767's are looking really dated. Some people have even mentioned that with the refresh, cabin walls/toilets still look drab...but JQ will get the new planes according to QF management.

Dont forget the A330s coming back, of which the first has already arrived.

AirAsia X and Scoot seems to be regarded as a bigger threat than Virgin?

Will that terribly performing QFi get to pay for the maintenance of these though? :p

Not likely. A320's are here to stay for PER. QF think so little of PER, they won't even give us a decent J* service.

Has there been any announcements on which routes the first few 787's will fly.

Will they have a J class?.

I would have thought SIN, HNL and NRT would be the obvious choices for routes for the 787.

A couple of years ago a JQ purser suggested SYD-LAS might have been a go-er for the 787. I know purser's often do not have credible information, but LAS seems like a good stepping stone for a 787. Seems like it might have the range to do so, just.
