Jetstar unveils big plans for home market | The Australian

JETSTAR will add 700,000 domestic seats and 77 new return flights in the first half of next year as it ramps up its Australian presence and embarks on one of its biggest expansions since starting service in 2004.

The airline will bring in five additional domestic aircraft in the first half, one of them an operational spare, as it significantly boosts services between Melbourne and Sydney and popular east coast leisure destinations.

The move will increase Jetstar's market share to about 18 per cent, ensuring Qantas Group meets its self-imposed rule that it retain at least 65 per cent of the domestic market.

seems with JQ, TT, DJ adding extra capacity next year there should be some good sales to try and fill the planes :)

I dare say many of JQ's "new" services will be at the expense of existing QF services.

Sure looks like it !!!
QF wil probably end up with the big "seven" ports only.....................

Cheers Dee
Syd, Mel, Bne, Per, Adl, Cbr...I only can count 6:shock:

Alan Joyce was on record about a month or two ago stating that no QF routes would be replaced by JQ moving forward.

Given CBR has no JQ flights and from what I've heard, JQ has no real plans to start services to CBR I see the big 7 as

BNE
SYD
CBR
MEL
ADL
PER
DRW

I wouldn't be surprised to see HBA lose all QF services (it's not a hub of business or gov't) and become JQ only.

CNS will probably be dropped.

I doubt CNS will be dropped, they have just invested in a new QP, agree with HBA though, DRW as well asit does have low traffic numbers even with the massive JQ expansion.

JQ will be running the A332 on MEL-PER and MEL-CNS from March on a daily basis.

Best thing is that you can select a StarClass seat (just the seat) for $27.

You don’t think they’ll remove StarClass from the planes operating these routes?
