I was booked between MEL-SYD on a Jetstar International Flight, on a domestic Sector (before the A330 goes elsewhere..). I was booked on the 20th of October, mainly to get into the International terminal for a special flight departing to LAX that day..Seeing the A380 :))) departs around 11am, My flight was at 11.30 or so, but now they change it to 1415. Can I webcheckin for this International sector from MEL-SYD seeing its still Domestic?? I want to be in the International Terminal by 10am and is this possible. I have to get some special pass dont I and when will check in open?

You cannot check in for any international flight online with JQ or QF, this will change next year but too late for your purpose.

Check-in would not normally open until 11:15am; being a domestic segment you need photo Id (DL, PP etc). They with put a florescent orange "D" sticker on your BP.

I presume you're on the lookout for QF93, the inaugural Qantas A388 commercial service; this is due to depart at 11:15am.

Given it's an inaugural, it may be late (they often are). You could try queuing for JQ3 as soon as the line are set up, be first to check in. With the D sticker you can expedite passing through immigration with the special queue.

Once through you can hightail it up the concourse to the VLA Gates at the end.

I have been watching the flight over the past few weeks, and never usually leaves on time. If my flight is delayed in this case, say by two hours, will check in still open at 11.15am?

Check in for JQi flights normally opens about 3 hours before scheduled departure time.

People start queuing as soon as the tapes are set up; this can be ¾ hour before check-in opens.

One last thing regarding qantas. If flying CBR-SYD and i miss my flight on a red-e-deal (if my TT inbound was late..) will they just put me on the next one? And is the seats bigger on a 734 to a Dash 8-400? Thanks a lot guys, its just I never fly Qantas(its been 10 years), mainly Tiger, and hence the questions..The same with Virgin, if I miss on a "go fare", will they just bump me onto the next flight.
I will also be webchecking in for both if that helps..

Thanks

If you miss a flight its ALL your problem. Read the conditions of fare purchase, A No Show on cheap tickets generally means loss of fare. Only if all flights (CBR-SYD-??) are booked on one reservation will the airline accomodate you on a later flight if the first flight is late. If flghts are on seperate airlines you are taking the risk (have your credit card ready to buy another flight)

That said (and yep it's 100% correct), if I had to choose which carrier I was going to miss a flight on, I would choose Qantas over any other in Australia. The staff often show compassion and flexibility over and above what the rules say, where things are able to be managed by them.

I guess so. We are talking Tiger here, if they are late, Im late for my QF flight, so Im not taking chances then. Seeing im only 18(but look like a 13yr old-very short, lol) mabye they might show some sympathy Mal..

Sorry to bore you one more time guys, but do DJ operate 737/8's on CBR-SYD or is it 170 or 190?? 1000 departure we are talking here to SYD

I think all DJ CBR-SYD services are operated by a E-Jet, be it a E170 or E190.
