Hi All,

Last night I received an e-mail upgrade offer and paid $400 to upgrade to Business Max for a flight next Thursday. Having never flown Jetstar long haul, I have a few questions:

1. What is the best seat in Business?

I'm 6'9" and have a choice of the following seats: 1E, 1F, 2E, 2F, 4F, 5E, 5F

I looked at Seat Guru and originally chose 2F, based on bulk head seats not being great for tall people. I have since changed to 1F, based on some comments here and the fact that the photos appear to show more room in the front row.

2. What points and SC's will I receive?

When I clicked on the upgrade link, Business Max showed 0 points and 0 SC's, which appears to be an error. I rang and the staff member confirmed it does earn points and SC's, but didn't appear confident. Hopefully I haven't paid $100 extra just for lounge access! I had already purchased the Starter Plus bundle to earn points and SC's, but I was aware Business doesn't earn anything.

3. Which lounge do I have access to? Just Qantas Club or International Business Lounge?

4. What is the food and wine like? Same as in economy?

5. What is the best Y seat? On the way back, I've purchased the Starter Plus bundle and selected 44G, which is bulkhead. No exit row seats available.

As an interesting side note, my booking still gives me the option of purchasing entertainment and comfort packs, even though they are included!

Thanks in advance.

We earned 15,000 points (9K plus 6K WP status bonus) and 140 SC for BNE/HNL on JQ after paying the AUD400.00 upgrade offer like yourself.

On the return HNL/BNE in whY (didn't get an upgrade offer) the earn was 45 SC and 9,000 points (4.5K plus 4.5K status bonus).

The only lounges airside are the F lounge and the International Business Lounge which you'll have access to.

Re the food, I've flown JQi Business Max a few times and the food is a plated meal from a menu. Orders were taken just after take off. Maybe to ensure J pax got their choice. No idea what is served in Y. Food was acceptable for airline food.

I don't drink alcohol but soft drink was unlimited and I saw other people being served without complaint.

food and drink will be like pretty much exactly the same as QF premium economy with a little better in terms of bar selection

for y seats i would go for row 10 personally at the bulkhead, from research theyre really arent any goods seats on the jq 787 so i went for quietest cabin and least worst legroom and no chance of other pax crowding around or bathroom smells etc.

Qantas Club and J Lounge are the same thing for international travel - you will have access

check the qf points earn calculator for points and sc earned (select JQ and business)

If travelling JQ take the front row. It can be a bit restrictive when pax put their seats back. The front rows are good. Its not like J in QF international - but never the less a good value product.

We travel JQ in J a couple of times a year - and I find it comfortable and the service cheerful. The food can be as good as you get on QF in J - and while the drinks selection is a bit limited - it is still quite generous. I do find the crew can be a bit variable - but it has never been a big issue.

The value for a J seat in JQ is often quite good - so enjoy your trip.

Thankyou for the tip - just changed from Row 2 for next May.

I tried checking the status calculator and it didnt accept Honolulu. It used to, now it must be an enhancement.

I also advocate row 1.

The other tip for row 1 is to use your rolla-board as a footrest during flight. A standard (full sized) bag is the same height as the seat pan, and means you can pretty much get your legs fully horizontal and have a fairly comfortable flight.
