I stayed in Johor Bahru.
And caught a Taxi to Singapore to Catch my flight.

However, the Taxi had to drive PAST Changi Airport to Singapore Queen St Central, where I had to get out, transfer to a Singapore taxi and pay $20 or so to be drive BACK to the airport. Apparently this is the law.

So much for Global Warming and the Kyoto agreement. It's childish and plane stupid.

I believe the reason for this, is that Singapore does not tourist dollars spent on the wrong side of the border. Coupled with having to walk over the causeway on Friday night, Singapore has soured a lot of goodwill. This is not the right way to go about things.

There are some cabs in Singapore that you can take from Singapore to JB, others must stop at the bridge and you need to walk into JB. I also believe (not that I have tried to before) that there are particular cabs in JB that are only allowed to transit into "central" then turn around hopefully with a fare and exit back into JB, then there are the others that can and will take you to Changi on request.

It pays to ask before departing - the $20 extra is nothing, the $7K J fare you miss because of cabs might raise your bosses eyebrows!

That's rather indirect - I can see no reason to travel via Changi to get to Central Singapore from JB -that's adds about 30Km to the journey. Why not use the Bukit Timah and Pan Island Expressways?

Methinks some taxi driver made some extra meterage .. lah!

Maybe you should have done a bit more research. Don't forget that you are travelling between two different countries here.

As for global warming, one can always take the bus!
