I am wondering if there is an AFFer who may know the basic fare rules for JAL ex China. I am looking to book (revenue) PEK-HND one way in J. When making the booking via the JAL site there are 2 prices in CNY (I expected to be billed in CNY) one almost double than the other. Before all the simple responses come in saying one is Discount the other is Flex I have already assumed this to be the case.

The title in each colum is 4CNJPJLA and 4CNJPJFA (seems like the fare buckets), when I clicked on each one it just says fare rules can not be found (so a broken link). I did search online and found some results for fare rules ex Canada and the US, these ones also had 3 different J buckets.

Could anyone provide a high level summary of what main rules are e.g. change fees, cancellation fees or no ability to cancel etc. I do not need the full blown rule set I hate reading them and in most cases they are pretty similar with carrier nuances. It is likely that the booking will will not be changed or cancelled but if it happened I just would like to know what I would be slugged.

I also get the broken link.

ITA matrix has the 7000 fare only, but a different fare rule than the one on the JAL page (maybe that's why it's a broken link?). The rules are CNY500 for cancel refund prior to departure, 50% of fare for no show. Changes free of charge.

Ctrip (english) also has the same fare, with the same conditions (500/50%, changes free), but they require you to make the changes no later than 1 hour prior to departure (guess it gives them time to make the changes in their system)

Fare are very expensive on JAL and ANA. Avios can be a good redemption for these flights.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Also forgot to mention I had checked on EF and could not find the same fare basis. I am looking for specific flights as MrsM and MissM already have J rewards on the flight and is part of a wider plan. Maybe my usual plan of pay for 1, rewards for 2 may be tested. :(

you can buy it through ctrip, I'd just screen shot the fare rules :) (ctrip is usually pretty good to deal with, but if any problems you could always do a charge back through your credit card if they don't honour the fare rules etc)

It should be cheaper to book a return and then dump the return leg, as long as X or I class are available.
