Is there a way to find out which is the most lightly loaded day of the week for QF12 in business? I figure this will give me the best chance of securing an upgrade if there are plenty of empty seats.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

How long is a piece of string?

Really though common sense suggests, in general, paid J travel wlll be at times that suit typical working weeks/cycles.. so departures midweek are probably less likely to have higher loads vs say a Fri or Sat departure with arrival in time for start of a new week.

of course any one particular day or date could be influenced by all sorts of factors such as a group booking, maybe a bunch of people going to a convention, or coming back from same, or something like that.

Also consider time of year in terms of this - for example there should be less paid (but more upgrade) demand for J seats around holidays and Christmas/NY.

Have no idea however, from my research (SFA) stay away from weekends and the bookends....

Hi vandy,

What sort of status do you have? Not only take into account the likely number of seats, but also where in the queue you're likely to be.

Not solid indicators, but also:

- Check EF for loadings
- Trawl Upgrade Success Thread on this Board to see if there is a pattern to LAX-SYD
- Employ a Sheep's Bladder

Thanks, I am Silver so would be down the back of the queue. I've heard Gold or above have pretty good success on the A380 trans-pacific flights.

Other option could be to route via MEL or BNE. Not sure but would guess BNE has less paid J sold than out of SYD or MEL.

Converting that upgrade success thread into a spreadsheet would be really helpful. Not sure if I can suggest that to the mods?
