Is it worth flying Emirates F for 3 hours?

My husband and I have whY tickets booked SYD-CHC return on EK for early April that I got super-cheap through Bestjet. (Luckily my tickets were issued before they went under!)

I've just had a look on the Qantas website and there is F award availability on the flight we want to come home on.

So do you think it's worth the points to experience F class on Emirates for the first time, even if it's only 3 hours?

I've only experienced J on Etihad and United but I'd love to experience F sometime.

And if I do book the F one way CHC-SYD, do I need to cancel my return whY that will be in the system for the same flight? Would there be any issues if it's left there and can I book the F before we fly but cancel the return after we land in CHC? I'm thinking that would be a problem if we are booked 2X on the one return flight.

Don’t know about the cancellation issue but if it’s on A380 and you aren’t usual F flyers, then this might be your chance to at least try it. Sometimes you just gotta do things that others think are silly. I’ve just re read. If you don’t take the first leg then return gets cancelled. Could you do it in reverse? Fly F home?.

That's what I'm thinking too. :)

Yes, it's the A380.

No, I am thinking of doing what you suggest. Take the first leg in whY and return on the award F.

I'm just not sure if booking the award in F return while I already have the whY booking will create an issue in their systems.

LOL I can do some serious damage to Champagne when it's on offer...
Funny thing. I like Moët and had been drinking that in the lounge before departure. On boarding I was asked about pre dinner drink. I said Moet please. She replied, I’m sorry Ma’am, we only have Dom Perignon on board. Oh well, I’m prepared to go without the Moët then.

HILARIOUS!

I've only tried Dom once and it tasted like liquid gold on the tastebuds...

Problem is I have to work the next day so I could have a serious hangover if I come home F!

OK, I booked it! 108,000 points and $154 NZD for the two of us.

Would appreciate it if anyone can confirm if I need to cancel the return whY leg after I take the first leg or if I can leave it and just be a no show for that ticket.

I never get hangovers on good quality champagne.

I’d try calling after you’ve taken the flight if you were concerned by that. They are different PNRs so you should be fine. Now you need to google and read reviews of what you will experience. Enjoy! The same flight but from Auckland was my first F experience and I did have a shower but ask as soon as you board.

Watching the review videos now! Lol so excited!

Have you actually checked with EK that your bestjet tickets will be honoured? Given your flights are still a fair way away you would be one of the very lucky ones compared to the stories.

If all good I would cancel the return leg if it is on the same flight. Don’t want the computer deciding which one to keep and giving you Y.

An example not ending well: Answered - Airlines blaming each other [QF fails to inform EK of cancelled booking]

Yeah, I rang and checked. Was very lucky because I booked right at the end of November.

Thanks for the info. I’m going to ring and cancel the return leg nice we land in CHC. Thanks!

Wow. Where was your F flight to?
Same as yours to The Land of The Long White Cloud. But, MEL-AKL-MEL March 2018 for my fathers 85th birthday...let's just say he has never been the same ;) I organised "Bon Voyage & Welcome Home cakes" at EK lounge a month before in AKL. Also had a fantastic crew who went ALL OUT...there is F on EK and there is F+ if you ask nicely...hint, hint ;)IMG_0153.jpeg IMG_0200.jpeg IMG_0201.jpeg
