Interesting article about how the ANA 'Mileage Club' FF program works. As far as I know they don't do points sales (or even sell points), so earning through flying or Amex MR transfers may be the only way to earn points, but they allow 3 (yes three) stopovers and have some real sweet spots for redemptions.

do Aussie AMEX MR points transfer across to ANA or will it have to be through SPG? I don't see myself earning enough points with AMEX to convert to ANA for premium travel. Probably prefer buying with avianca..

You have to go through SPG. Some good values, but they do charge fuel surcharge on most of their partners. The biggest issue in my option is that they don't sell miles

Looks like the main difference is the mileage vs region points calculation, which can be both an advantage and disadvantage.

Avianca does sell miles. At the moment they have a 100% bonus until end of December but the sore point is that it costs many more miles to redeem tickets for those in Australia and New Zealand. See their chart here:

Main issue with Lifemiles is that they "devalue" their chart without any warning. I doubt ANA would do such as thing.... but I could be wrong.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

With the AA/US merger, it might as well be. As others mentioned Lifemiles is also another alternative although the program is "screwy" with unannounced devaluations for example

Any annual limit on SPG transfer to ANA ?

Cheers
