From time-to-time I (as AFF admin) receive invites for various PR/Marketing events. I have just received an invite from Virgin Atlantic to attend their "Upper Class High Tea" event in Sydney. See attached invite.

(In case you can't read the image it says: "Be the first to enjoy our high tea on the ground, served the Virgin Atlantic way with a special guest appearance from our leading High Tea expert. Serving from 4:30 for 5pm start. Wednesday 21 March)"

The location is in Sydney CBD.

I won't be in Sydney on 21 March, so have decided (with Virgin Atlantic's approval) to offer the invite to an AFF member.

If you are interested and
1. Can attend on 21 March at 4:30pm in Sydney CBD
2. Have been an AFF member for at least 3 months
3. Have made at least 10 posts
4. Are prepared to write a post about the event
5. Enjoy a good cuppa :D

please PM me. The first qualified applicant I receive gets the invite!!

I did see this earlier but at that time I will be sending my wife off at Sydney Airport to MEL-SIN-CAN. I will be hanging around at the DJ T2 lounge though for free feed!

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

Wonder if Sir RB will appoint himself as tealady. He loves taking the mickey out of people including himself.

Looking forward to attending and reporting back!!

Will sharpen the writing pencil and dust off the camera!!

Just walked past what appeared to be this event in Sydney! There are even a couple of Virgin J class seats out the front!

Sent from my iPhone using AustFreqFly app

Ahh you mean these seats!!

I'm just heading back to the hotel so will write up more on the event later

Completely missed this, but then also wouldn’t have been free to go. Looking forward to the write-up though :)

They'd want to keep an eye of them as how many people would love to have a couple of those in a man cave! :p

I actually only found out about this at about 5:30pm today and swung by to get free scones at about 6pm. Yummy yummy!

OK! Finally been able to sit down and give you a run through on Virgin Atlantic's event.

They were as you probably guessed, launching "High Tea" for Upper Class passengers during their flights. So based on the old High Tea as we have seen, you are given a 3 tier platter with an assortment of sandwiches, savouries and sweets. And of course the choice of Teas to go with it.. Personally I stuck to the Champagne (Verve Cliquot was the choice of bubbles).

It wasn't a huge event, several journalists from travel publications were there, and out on the street there were models dressed as FA's walking up and down the street offering passers by samples of the cakes.

Also on display were two of the upper class seats. One was set up as a bed, the other with the table and laid out for having High Tea. They are very close to the Air NZ J seats too.

The speech from one of the marketing girls emphasised they want to bring back the glamour to flying, much like the Pan AM days. I laughed at this as I was holding my Pan Am bag at the time!

So in all it was very good to be invited to see what they will be offering, I had a chance to speak to their people about the fact they needed to tie in their airlines better especially for redeeming flights. They did also mention status matching as well, so I am waiting to hear back on some details!

I'll post some pics soon.

Thanks to Admin for the invite and the Virgin Atlantic team for putting on the event!

Thanks for the report, good to hear the details - interesting to see they are 'adding' the high tea as I believe this was enhanced out of the service offering (along with the on board beauty therapist) a few years back.
