Virgin reaping rewards from its game change

AVIATION: Virgin Australia shares rose more than 6 per cent yesterday as chief executive John Borghetti told investors the airline was reaping the rewards of its game-change program.

Mr Borghetti highlighted a jump in the corporate and government share of revenue from 10 per cent in July 2010 to 17 per cent at the end of December and growth in the Velocity program as evidence the airline's strategy was producing benefits ahead of schedule.
Virgin shares closed up 2.5c at 41c.
Mr Borghetti told a Macquarie Securities conference in Sydney that Velocity billings had increased 72 per cent this financial year as membership topped three million three months ahead of target.
The airline was continuing to drive yield growth with its new Airbus A330s having a domestic business class and new interiors for its Boeing 777s. He said capacity growth at the airline was expected to be 9 per cent to 11 per cent for the full financial year.

Page 16 (P17 of the PDF) is interesting and shows Alan Joyce's work on brand value.

2011 - Qantas ranked 11th for Brand Reputation
2012 - Qantas Not in the top 20.

In the same time, VA has gone 13th --> 6th.

Qantas may well recover, but if ever there was proof of damage done during the QF grounding, this would be it.

A nice presentation, and recognising some of the issues still looking forward, but they've come a long way in a short time.

Hmm..the presentation indicates that there are more ATRs to be brought into service by the end of june (contradicting what has been aired on other threads). What's the prediction for where these aircraft will go? ABX perhaps...?

Its not contradicting what's on other threads, DJ have new aircraft in county however there is what is expected to be a temporary hold on their introduction into revenue service. The expansion of at ATR fleet was also mentioned on here some time ago.

...that's the bit I was referring to. JB is now indicating that these aircraft (which have had said temporary hold put on them) will be in service by the end of June - meaning they've resolved theirs and Skywest's issues with the CASA??

Or they expect to have it resolved by then, considering its been since Feb its been quite some time already.

I think ABX is a cert to change to ATR . Flew down & back a few weeks ago & loads were light for an E190 . Was around 22 PAX SYD-ABX (morning flight) & somewhat better on the afternoon flight with around 50 PAX ABX-SYD.

Is Alan Joyce secretly employed by Virgin?
