Hi everyone my question is regarding flights over to UK for a symposium on international women's day.

It's usually cheaper living in Berlin regarding accommodation and food expenses. I am based here for other reasons too.... For me it works out to be the cheapest option.

If anybody has experience these flights can suggest the best ways over from Berlin Tegel to LHR ..... and back again. (Unique alternatives) ?

Also interested in maximising SC and points on QF...... Although it's a secondary consideration. I also have absolutely no status on Miles and More.

Appreciate your thoughts regarding best options / and also pricing ......

And which search engine would be the best to use?

Oh yeah noticed that .....! Strange must be some conflict with other alliances or no slots available, but Air Berlin codeshare with BA

It's only BA and Germanwings on this route. 4U is usually cheaper but of course BA will earn you oneworld points/SCs. There aren't really any creative routings that will earn you extra points for little cost, unless the AB website happens to throw in a connection via DUS or something.

My only real tip would be to check both the AB and BA websites. AB has a codeshare on BA's LHR flights but prices may vary.

Do you need it to be LHR and TXL? Various carriers fly between London (STN, LHR, LGW) and Berlin (SXF, TXL). I noticed that often carriers like easy jet, Norwegian and Ryanair are $100 or more less than BA. And given the cheapest BA fares will earn minimal points and SC's and also probably not include luggage , you've got to ask what premium it is worth paying to fly BA?

If you REALLY want to maximise SCs and points on QF you could fly with Iberia and Iberia Express via Madrid.
It's only about 10-20 euros more BUT it would take almost 7 hours.
You could do a similar thing with Finnair via Helsinki (though you would have to book it multi-city) but that would be more expensive.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

This is lateral very lateral thinking but the time factor may be a problem

How about via VIE? AB/HG both fly TXL-VIE and BA does VIE-LHR.
