I was checking on some flights I have coming up and noticed a change to available seating on flights as per the subject.

Until recently as a WP, I have been able to select front row bulkheads on 330's. Now it seems Qantas are completely blocking off the front two rows - presumably for P1/CL.

This is not the bassinet blocking, it is for those seats where I had previously been able to select in rows 23 and 24.

Here is an ExpertFlyer rendition of a flight I am on later this year. I have 23A selected (It's a day flight). When I selected the seat I could choose from any row 24 seat and 23A/B.

This has changed, this is what I see if I go to select a seat now:

I checked the seating on half a dozen of my bookings on A330's going through next year and all are similar.

I did look at B738, A388 and B744 - that has not changed.

I have an upcoming A330-200 flight SYD-AKL and had selected row 24, can now confirm I cannot get row 23 or 24.

The joke of this is usually closer to departure especially on full flights, any old joe blow gets seated in the rows who checks in last minute.

QF P1 confirmed this week that Row 23A/B J/K (330-200's) and 23A/B (330-300's) are classified as a bassinet seat and cannot be allocated to CL/P1's or any other FF... They will monitor and then allocate 24hrs prior. As stated previously this typically ends up where anyone can be allocated these seats. I've found these seats go to someone who is connecting through to AKL from an international sector and checks in +24hrs before departure.

This is incorrect information from the P1 team. See post #3.

FWIW, there are no bassinets at 23A/B or 24J/K on QF A333's; there are bassinets at 23D/E & 23F/G

I’ve noticed recently for the LHR A380 flights post end-mar (so via sin) that row 11 in J is no longer selectable as a WP, though available as a P1. Don’t think that’s always been the case as I’ve always selected Row 11 in my previous flights...

As a WP I can no longer choose row 11, guess it is P1 row now

I was able to select any of 23A/B or 24J/K for Tuesday's (26/9) SIN-MEL at T-80 today. That said, the equipment changed from a 332 to a 333 in the last couple of days and previously EF had shown 23A/B and 23J/K as occupied (not blocked). I'm SG

I like Row 12. So long as I can select that still whilst disappointed at benefits being taken away for WP I’ll be able to pick the seats I want hopefully.

That explains it.

We're flying QF1 in May 2018 and QF Special Handling previously have told me I'll get row 11 because of medical power requirements. This time I can only select row 12. I emailed Special Handling and was told Row 11 is not available (I'm WP) even though I theoretically should have 11J or K available. Another QF enhancement.

I think with medical power requirements you should be able to select it at the time if booking via QF.
Personally I don’t think row 11 is all that great. Row 13 window with 4 side bins is where it’s at.
No idea why row 11 should be regarded as a P1 perk. This P1 won’t be picking it again after too many average flights there.

I banned 11K after giving up the seat on boarding for a PAX requiring medical power.

In any case 12A, 12K, 13A & 13K in that order are my preferred seats.

So it seems they are bringing International in line with domestic and with holding first one or two rows. What impact does this have on 1A and 1K in First?

It was pretty easy to get my kids allocated 11A/B for a SYD-DFW we've got later this year.

Only had to explain the concept of easy access via the stairs for us and the agent said no worries:D

If seats in First are blocked for P1s then I’d prefer 2A and 3A to be blocked. EK regularly blocks 1A and 2A on the A380.

How recently was that?

It seems to be only a couple of days since this enhancement happened.
