I've played a few years ago (not that I knew what I was doing) and its just a bit of fun.

I've regsitered this year to see how I go. Give it a crack i say.........:D

I've played it...

Made a killing so i took a hiatus from my day job and decided to start playing - nonetheless lets be assured that it was quute the opposite when i started playing with my own money! And lets just say that im now back to my day job. I still trade quite heavily but now do it after hours and its more of a fun sideline than anything else.

It is something I have always been tempted by but never had the gits to play on (the real market that is). As a highly risk averse accountant I just dont like to gamble...

Bigger gamble to not (even with the recent correction)...... key is to onvest rather than speculate though

Havea look at "Dogs of the Dow".

Simple method that works for me...

at least this way you have a virtual 50k ( free ) to spend and abuse as you see fit :D

I did try this several years ago and as albatross710 said 'with my 'success' I didn't give up my day job!'

On the other hand I didn't do a badly as I thought I might :!:

A few years ago, I won a few $$$ via an online trading game.

Was doing ok, but not spectacularly like the real big traders. Was taking punts on some 1-10c shares that I thought would go up, and as the market was booming, a lot of them made some good 'paper' money. One of the tips I used was scouring for penny stocks that had a big % increase the day before, assuming others would be jumping onboard to try and catch the wave.

A few days before closing, I bought a huge number of shares in a risque (adult products) company for a laugh, and on the final day of the comp the market crumbled, but that risque company went up quite a bit.

End result, I came out first :)

So, it's not just good skills, but also good luck!
