This article was written by a journalist who traveled with our PM on board Australia's Air Force One.

There is a good reason for this premium service. Those people not connected with the Prime Minister or government pay for the right to be on board. When the media travels with the Prime Minister we are charged a rate equivalent to a business class fare.

Didn't realised that our PM was upgrading from a B737 to an A330 which in my opinion is long over due as I always believed that the B737 was not up to the missions that that PM is required to do.

Not sure about ageing... The BBJs came into the fleet in 2002 - so about as old as the same as a chunk of Qantas 737s and I suspect with far less hours.

The new 330 will be a dual purpose VIP / aircraft refueling tanker.

A pretty lame excuse. One might imagine that if the terrorists got on board, they would pretty quickly work out where the PM was without having to resort to photos. Probably not down the back.

Given there's extensive coverage (photos and video) from inside Air Force One - I wonder why our one is subject to special restriction?

Calling it "our Air Force One" is a bit gauche and American. It's a RAAF jet , and it's there to serve the royals and GG just as much as the lowly PM. PMs shouldn't be accredited with too many accoutrements in our system of government IMO - they are designed to come and go (and lately, they certainly have!)
