What you need to do to get the $100

1. Go to ing.com.au/everyday, open a new Orange Everyday and enter GBW573 in the promo box at the end of the online form - this part's really important otherwise neither of you will get your reward!

2 Deposit $1,000+ (such as their pay) from an external account into their new Orange Everyday account within any calendar month.

Got excited when I saw 'great interest rate' but its a rubbish interest rate, you can get 2.25 easily.

ING are not competitive anymore.

Given the reasonably generous conditions and the fact it isn't an introductory rate reverting to 0% I'd argue it is a great rate.

Also, doing the maths, with the $100 extra you are still better off at 1.80% with ING if your cash amount is not above $22,000.

Sad sign of the times that $100 can have such a large impact. Interest on cash is only useful to make sure it's value doesn't go backward.

The Barefoot Investor Scott Pape recommended ING Orange Everyday and I know why. It's a simple and easy bank account that just works. I also use Ubank and Rams, and whilst sometimes their online savings accounts interest rates goes slightly higher than ING, I use ING Orange as my everyday account as their system works well. Ubank always has problems and RAMS isn't a fully featured account.
