May 3 2019 07:00 QANTAS flight from Melbourne to Sydney, you have to book in at Melbourne at International check in counters 1 Through 6, Very busy but processed within 15 minutes.
Landed Sydney and proceeded to Gate 15, International transfer, large queue and 15 minutes wait. Huge queues at the immigration self service booths. Boarding was well under way by the time I reached the gate.

American Airlines flight departed on time and landed at LAX early, Disembarked at 06:00 at Terminal 4.
You then had to use the new air side walkways to go to Thomas Bradley (Terminal B) to clear immigration and customs.
Prior to the automatic booths in LA processing had taken up to 2 hours. this time had my bags by 6:45 and proceeded to the American Airlines drop off area to deposit my bags. Went to Terminal 4 and booked into the American Airlines lounge after buying a day pass for US$59. Had a shower and waited for my 11:15 flight to Philadelphia.
Other than a hour and a half delay for that fight all went well.

Not that I'm aware of - but vast improvements over what it used to be like before the terminal re-build, 3-4 years ago.
Yes agree, just the way you said it I thought something else may have recently happened
