Bugger. Can't get there that day.

Good find, though. Thanks, ABC1.

In out Burger at LAX is great.....usually after 3 or 4 hours at the Melody Bar and Grill just across the road. For those that don't know the Melody is a "locals" bar that is very well known, sit outside and watch. It is about 20 meters off the centre line and about 100 meters from the threshold of 24R. Literally the planes are no more than 75 meters above you on landing. Also no more than 10 min walk from many of the airport hotels, (sheraton, Crowne Plaza etc)

No doubt it will be super busy so I'm not even bothering. My guess is that the burgers won't actually be as good as in USA but the whole hype and demand means that people will force themselves to believe it was a great experience even if its cough. People will wait for hours to eat something within a minute or two.. Plus it's likely a lot of the people would not have even had In-N-Out anyway so wouldn't even know what to expect as the 'real deal.'

OR it will be super tasty with Aussie beef and I'm just being a cynic because I don't to wait in line

Did a drive by - ridiculous line. Love one but not killing half a day to do it.

Dang, going to miss out by a day, flying into syd tomorrow. Really do miss having those burgers while jetlagged in LAX.

I think their burgers are pretty ordinary compared to the good old fish and chip shop burger with beetroot, pineapple, bacon and egg. I went there twice with my USA cousin and I couldn't for the life of me understand why he thought they were so good. On every other visit I had to talk him out of visiting there without hurting his feelings. Everyone to themselves I guess...

Would have been good to fly down for, but glad I didn't considering they sold out before the doors even opened. And then they say they're not interested in setting up shop in Australia, despite the demand they see every year! Morons!

At In-N-Out, there are only 4 food choices! Very odd for the USA! Burger, double burger, cheese burger, fries. That's it. But all are freshly prepared so it takes about 10 mins. I must admit the burger was pretty good and not like a soggy mass produced bun.

They have a "secret menu" with lots more stuff on it, only the cool cats know to ask about it.

Personally in Melbourne we have trendy hipster burgers coming out of our ears. Mr Burger and Huxtaburger are both pretty good, hard to imagine INO is significantly better.

It's not.

But you're trying to compare a Holden Kingswood with a BMW X5.

Gourmet burgers are best compared against a Fish N Chip Shop burger.

In N Out is best compared against other fast food chains.

PLUS - you need to understand that In N Out is a Californian cultural institution. It loses that the minute it grows to too many areas - which is why they don't.

Spend money on flights just to say you have had an In-N-Out burger? Really don't understand all the hype.

Or those that have google. :) But even the secret menu is limited in a country where huge choice is the norm.

Another interesting difference is that In-N-Out is not franchised.

I thought it was interesting to visit when I was in LA. The burgers were the best chain fast food burger I had tried. But probably not the best burger anywhere.
