Targetted? Severe penalties for trying to register without being targetted?

Just registered using my membership number. Should reap a few points next month.

Presumably you don't register for the local promotion too and double dip?
No, not going to risk it. Besides, my stays are most likely to be Oz, Euro and US. Not Asia, Africa or ME.

IHG IT probably isn't smart enough to stop you registering for more than one. I would be curious to see if anyone is able and brave enough to nest multiple offers.

Would it make sense to delay registering until 'accelerate' offer expires (in 9 days, IHG website tells me)?

Fine print a bit tragic, was about to book a couple of places in UK :/ The Club Carlson triple points offer more promising in that regard.

Cheers skip

This should be independent of 'Accelerate'. So keep an eye out for a link to a 'Worldwide' book direct offer. If I see one, I will post it here.

i might be wrong, but so long as you have booked direct - existing bookings should count if you get the chance to register later and consume stays during the promotion period.

Can we be certain there won't be any issues if we have not been targeted? Is there a time limit on registering for the promotion?

I like the look of this offer, rather than signing up for the quarterly ones. In this way, if I fail to book in one of the quarter periods, no bonus. At least with this offer, it's 3 stays by 31/12/17 and Australia is in the T&C's (I have no plans for AMEA travel).

IME, AMEA (Asia, Middle East and Africa) always includes Australia.

I've registered for this and accelerate, the cross over period has about 6 days to go so I thought "what the heck" and stacked them. Shall see how that goes!

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

SYD,

A few years ago, there were many Members of this Forum, and elsewhere, who signed up for 'multiple' IHG offers via 'code numbers' ( I was one of them ).

Myself and others had our IHG accounts frozen, while 'they' performed an audit.

The risk was, that 'they' could cancel your account ... you could lose your accumulated points, any Rewards bookings, and even your Ambassador Membership.

Lucky I got all my points back after I telephoned them in the USA a few times, to plead my case.

In this particular current promotion, it does say in the T&Cs, that the 'original recipient' of The Offer can only register ( even though any IHG Rewards Member may actually be able to complete the Registration process ).

This is what happened a few years ago .... the codes were advertised, and every man and his dog registered for everything !

I wouldn't risk it anymore.

Yes, I know. I registered for many myself. So probably lucky.

But that is why I didn't post the link I received directly from IHG. As mentioned in post #4, the LL article didn't mention "Targetted", they usually do have that - as applicable. It did mention applicable to residents of AMEA.
I'd already register via my own link so didn't look too closely at the Tc&Cs. Although I did notice the 'original recipient' qualifier in the subsequent post above.

So yes, this one is AYOR unless you received an email from IHG.

Does Loyalty Lobby have a relationship with IHG? I'd love to earn an easy 400,000 IHG points but don't want to risk losing >700,000+ IHG points.

I can see I'll have to do some reading. I haven't been active with IHG for a while (6 months??) but I did register for accelerate, just in case. Now I've registered for this one as I have a few IHG stays next week and according to the accelerate Ts&Cs, it finishes before then, so I can't see that I breach any unwritten terms. Speaking of which, are there written Ts&Cs anywhere that prohibit stacking?

Bottom line for me is I don't have a heap of IHG points (circa 70k I think) and the IHG reward program is cough so who cares, really. If they want my business, they have to play the game they start. If they don't, they can close my account and lose any future business. Pretty simple in my mind.

You are usually able to stack with most IHG promotions. The thing that still concerns me most is the very little coverage this promotion is getting on Flyertalk and the suggestion to stay away from this promotion if you haven't been targetted.

Got my first stay sorted for end of May at CP Newcastle (I'll see a few AFF'ers there!). Other trips this year should see me pick up the 40K points here. Nice little earner...

Fancy that. Considered staying at CP Newcastle at the end of May (the other Newcastle), but went with the Hotel Indigo instead. Never stayed at a Hotel Indigo.

Meanwhile Mrs Pineapple has kindly shouted me a trip to MEL and SYD, so two stays at HIs should get me well on the way to the 40k points.

Cheers skip
