Ideas ex DRW or PER, cruise maybe, any random good deals or out there ideas

I have a free ticket SYD-PER ret, and would like suggestions on what and where to go jumping off from PER, maybe a cruise, or any other out there ideas. Looking at July 18.

(I've been to PER and driven south. And, and been direct to BME).

A little about your interests (and dis-interests) may help... the fall back suggestion is usually Rotto, to grab a Quokka selfie and wave at the wind turbine, but if the weather ends up cr@p for your visit, it's not so much fun...

Have fond memories of Rotto and yes, went green on the trip over, but I did have extenuating circumstance of a slight touch of pregnancy. Now sadly realise that a cruise ex Freo in mid winter may not be forthcoming due to the bad winter seas. A cruise north would be interesting.

Don't wish to limit any possible ideas. But, would like to do maybe international ex PER / Freo.

Cruises from Perth can be return, on mostly old dodgy ships, or north, through terribly rough waters. Could be a short/cheap jumping point to DPS for cheaper and better cruises. It's also a nice place for a chilled holiday, but there isn't much around.

As others have mentioned Rotto could be alright in winter. It doesn't get too cold at night. However, if not sunny its probably less fun and I'd imagine too cold for swimming.

Perth winter days can be pretty glorious (but also pretty rubbish). It the weather is nice, nothing beats a meal and a drink in Fremantle sitting in the sun.

Being the dry season up north, that could be an option. They have those cruises on smaller ships (boats?) that take in the Kimberley region. Never done it, looks amazing, prices to match though.

Find cheap flights to Bali and go there for some R&R.

I love the Pemberton region in winter. Its damp, green and just beautiful amongst the Karri forests. There are some wineries. Can do day trips to Walpole (tree-top walk, valley of the giants). Could also continue on to Albany (although not been there in a very long time, but a friend loves it).

For something completely different - with no chance of rough seas - how about a few days in the Goldfields. You could, fly, drive or catch a train to Kalgoorlie and have a nice few days looking around. The weather at that time of year is mild.

Thanks, a jump to DPS for a better cruise is a good idea. I shall explore that. No wish to spend any more time in Bali though.

Yes, Pemberton was a lovely spot taking in the Karri and Jarrah etc as part of a drive through the southern regions. The seas along the Albany area are beautiful in winter.

So, that's where those statues are, that looks like an interesting experience.

Also, seeking any ideas ex DRW as the free flight takes me there too. Not the NT area, but further north (?)

On those statues. I've not been, but it is on the to do list. I nearly went over the Easter break, but decided against it due to peak tourist season. Not sure how good it would be in winter. Ie, risk of rain/overcast and damp salt lake. Best viewing I'm told is dawn and dusk when the shadows cast are long. Menzies seems to be to be the closest town with accommodation.
