Did not see this one coming - looks like the former Next Hotel in Queens Street Mall. Hopefully this is the way Hyatt will expand its ANZ footprint rather than announcing a build in 5 years and then never to be heard of again (Hobart...).
Info is scant on the website but hope it will have a Regency Club eventually.Hyatt Regency Brisbane

Fabulous news. DH is top tier with Hyatt so would like to maintain his status for when the world returns to normal. It was a pity that Hobart never came to fruition. It does look nice.

Definitely seems to have come out of nowhere.

Looking on the website, the hotel has no suites or Regency Club, though, so I'm not in a rush to get there.

I wouldn't let my dog stay in that Next Hotel the rooms were so small and pokey.... Hopefully Hyatt knock down some walls...

Hyatt issued a media release yesterday saying the hotel "will undergo a refurbishment to enhance the guestrooms, public areas, event spaces and dining venues ..."

31 sq meters, that's acceptable to me for a King bed room. Did a dummy booking for a stay in April. $207 pn I think is ok for its position to the CBD

Stayed here two weeks ago and will go again in two weeks time. It’s quite a nice hotel but they have to sort out some flaws in my opinion.

We were certainly excited to see the Hyatt brand come to Brisbane with this old property being taken over and “Hyatt-fied”. The hard product is pretty good- excellent location in the midst of the city and decent sized rooms with modern finishings. Unfortunately, none of the King rooms have actual King beds so you have the choice between much smaller sized Queen rooms or you have to live with two singles shoved together (which they, of course, incorrectly call “King” on their website). We were really impressed how this was communicated to us in advance but this doesn’t change the fact that this hotel simply has no acceptable King mattresses available which is a total no go for a hotel that calls itself Hyatt Regency.

In a similar vein, the pool looks lovely at 8am in the morning but turns out to be pretty useless at all other times of the day as it’s “smartly” built in a way so that it gets the hotel’s own shadow for most of the day. We dared regardless and not only is it shady throughout the day but also not heated in the slightest, hence freezing cold- and I’m usually not easily shocked by cold water pools.

What we were really unhappy about was the housekeeping service which seemed to be leftover from the C-class brand this properly was in the past: Inattentive, slack and not hygienic we found their service on every single day of our stay: Not a single time did they vacuum the floors (!!!) and every day we had to call up and ask for things like fresh coffee capsules, bathroom amenities or clean glasses. The latter turned out to be a major endeavour for the staff and required several renewed calls to the front desk to get it finally fixed. In fairness, after posting a review on Tripadvisor I was contacted be the hotel and they addressed all my issues in a personal email and took part of the room charges off my bill. They seemed to be genuinely interested in improving those little niggles so I am excited to go again in two weeks time.

I stayed here slightly involuntarily after the VA outage in BNE last Friday. I have to say the staff were really good. I got there as the kitchen was closing and they rang and got them to make something for me. They were also really pleasant on departure at 5am next day.
The room was a step up from what I normally use in BNE (George Williams Hotel -cheap but pretty clean and good location for me) and I felt really well looked after.
I'll stay here again if I can't get a spot at the GW.
Rgds,

Stayed late last year - was booked as a king bed, was the smallest king bed I have ever seen. Room was quite small, bathroom (renovated) was good.

The pool area is nice (small), but a corporate function was on in an adjoining seminar room (even though a Saturday), which meant they closed over 50% of the pool area, including the bar for the whole day - and resulted in staff saying to guests - 'you can't sit here', or 'can't walk through here' as it was reserved for the corporate function breaks.

I booked a 7 night stay, was able to upgrade to suite. I checked out after one night.
The room was just too small, even with the extra seating area. The hotel wifi blocked my company VPN, which is just ridiculous given the amount of people working from anywhere.
if it's a quick stay, ok, the price is low enough, but no way could I long stat at this property.
