Might have left it a little late but does anyone know how to get breakdown of taxes on QF booking? Departing HKG today on a SYD-HKG return and in transit in HKG so want to try get back departure tax.

It has to be specific to my booking not generic.

user madrooster has been able to get exact taxes from QF OW RTW fares using the PNR. I don't see why he wouldn't be able to check yours too.

Where it is booked direct with QF, then surely QF will be able to access those details (via telephone, email, or social media or private messages)

You will need to look at the e-ticket Fare Calculation details. This is generally included on the e-ticket receipt (not the itinerary or booking confirmation). On an e-ticket receipt there is normally a section for "Payment/Fare Details" that includes any endorsement/restrictions (such as VALID QF ONLY), and a Fare Calculation line that shows the Fare Basis and sector fare breakdown if applicable, followed by something like "XT15.32QR8.92WG" (an example from one of my old e-ticket receipts). This shows the taxes components included and the amounts for each. GST (UO) and any fuel surcharges (YR) are generally shown separate to the XT taxes.

Good luck with that ... Qantas e-ticket receipts rarely show that much information.

I recommend saudia as a source, but you'll need the 081- e-ticket number

I can go to QF sales in HKG airport this evening and ask for printout but trying to save time if I can do same thing in BKK lounge.

There's a QF service desk in check-in aisle D. Took a few minutes to get print out from them and then refund of departure tax from check-in aisle E.

Where/How do you claim this back at HKG?

There's a booth, nestled in among the regular check-in booths in the main departures hall. I think JohnK gave the location. It's labelled for tax refund. You need to be on a same day connecting flight (departure the next day, even at 0030 won't qualify). You present both your tickets, the second ticket showing departure tax has been paid, they give you cash on the spot. Only works with separate tickets, where tax would have collected for the deparutre. Transit tickets, or tickets with a stopover won't qualify for a refund.

If you have e-entry to Hong Kong it can all be done in about 15 minutes... arrival hall to departure hall including all security. If you don't have e-entry it all depends on the immigration queues as to whether you can be bothered.

The he refund also applies to ferry connections, and you can also post in the refund request, but I dunno how that works (where you need a bank account for example). They used to process refunds for previous flights up to six months (or even a year), but it's now been cut right back. So previous flights, unless very recent, may not be eligible.

I concur. Plug your ETKT number into the MMB section of saudia.com

You'll get something that looks like this:

Check-in aisle E signed Departure Tax refund.

Took ~30-45 minutes last night arriving at gate 60, train to immigration, 5-10 minute imigration queues, back upstairs to QF check-in, over to check-in aisle D where they were waiting with my printout, over to check-in aisle E where no one in line, 10 minute Libe video call to wife, back through immigration on far right and into QF lounge for 10-15 minutes before heading back to gate 44.

The HKD120 looks good in my wallet and looks even better with the HKD120 from last week.
