Let me start by confessing to a habit of petty crime. I thieve airline spoons. Well, I don't thieve them on every flight, but whenever I take my first flight with an airline, I souvenir one of their tea spoons. So my collection of tea spoons, bearing the carriers' logos, constitutes a fine record of the airlines on which I have travelled. It all started years ago, when somehow, accidentally, a TAA tea-spoon was present in our kitchen drawer. So when I first flew Ansett, I grabbed one of theirs. And so it has gone on.

The collection now numbers a neat 50. Not bad, but I am sure that many of you will have chalked up more airlines, if not necessarily the spoons to match. On my most recent trip I added two to my collection: Royal Jordanian and Cathay Pacific. And the thought occurred to me that they were an odd pair (apart from being OneWorld partners), in as much as RJ would be, I imagine, a comaprative rarity in most collections, while most people would be amazed that this was the first time I had ever flown with CX, given that this was my 80th international trip. But such was the case.

But even CX would not be the most surprising omission from my collection. I have yet to sample SQ for example, or TG, or KL.

As for the rarities (and I will restrict this just to national flag carriers), gems in my collection include Icelandair and Air Madagascar.

Would you care to share your way-out hits and misses?

I still have somewhere two "Click Grupo Mexicana" boarding passes CUN-HAV and HAV-CUN circa 2008 and a Pan Am boarding pass circa 1984. No more of them going.

I'm sure people have some amazing stuff.

This made me chuckle. Our everyday teaspoons-at least 20,are courtesy of CX.A beautiful set of dessert spoons courtesy of SQ.Many other knives, forks, various spoons and wonderful CX serviette holders.Logos include UA,TG,QF,FJ(when it was Fiji Airways),TAA,AN,DL,Pan Am.

Now let's not start on what has come out of hotel rooms!

My list is a fair bit shorter, only 8 airlines, although one of them is Ansett. (I usually fly with QF if it's an option)
Never really collected anything from flights (apart from a few boarding passes which end up sitting on my desk for years eg the one I'm looking at now which is 18 months old and not in good condition)

I have had a hobby for some time now collecting sick bags from different airlines. My favourites are from the now fortunately defunct CAAC.

The printing on the front just says "Clean Bag".

photographic proof or it didnt happen.

boarding passes 200
qf pjs - 7 biz, 1 first, 1 ba first... great winter pjs.

Hi everyone

I found this thread by googling "airline spoons".
I am collecting airline spoons for few years. I have 365 different airlines in the collection.

I am looking for other collectors for swapping duplicates or for swapping spoons with any other type of collectibles.

If anyone is interested please send me a message

Thanks

Hi GG77,
Welcome to Australian Frequent Flyer. I guess there's no end to the combination of words which people might Google. I'm certainly surprised at how you found me.

Sadly for you, I'm not in the collection-for-trade business and have no interest in releasing any of my collection.

But thanks for the interest.

Stir coffee with thumb, please

It's the other way round with me. There are airports all over the world that have cutlery, scissors, waterbottles, shampoo from self or travelling companion. My wife is a persistent offender - she'll grab a spoon or a knife from the drawer for her lunch at work and then fly off to Sydney on business before she has returned them.

Come to dinner at the Skyring mansion and if there are more than three dining, there will be a mixture of cutlery designs.

Westin, Hyatt, Peabody...
