Mrs FrustratedQP and I have booked First Class on BA16 and are wondering how early we can book in to maximise our first time in the FLounge? Also reading earlier posts it appears that we cannot pre book a spa treatment. Are they available to BA pax on the day and if so what is the likelihood of there being availability? If it makes any difference we are leaving on a Tuesday.

Just as QF F customers can't book a spa appointment at LHR BA lounge, same goes for BA pax in SYD. You can try your luck on the day.

I believe checkin opens 3 hours before your flight, but may be open sooner.

BA check in in SYD is handled by Menzies if I recall correctly and they open about 3h before departure

Thanks to all, looks like 3 hours is it then. We'll take a chance on the Spa.

Depending on flight timing you might get lucky on a Tuesday, mid-week is generally quieter IME. Of course QF F pax may trump you but worth a try. Good luck!

I assume by "book in" you are referring to check-in for the flight? I have modified the thread title to reflect "check-in" as the term most commonly used and to remove some confusion about "book in".

QF now does BA check-in in SYD. B desk. Check-in opens 4 hours before the flight. I was on BA 16 on Tuesday this week.
You may be offered a Spa appointment on entering the Lounge. My colleague in F was, I wasn't as flying CW but easily obtained an appointment after asking.

Thanks Princess Fiona, 4 hours sounds better than 3. I guess we'll ask about the spa upon entering and see how we go. Thanks NM, yes, I mean check in.

can you do online check in for BA in SYD? if so you can get in as early as possible (provided you can do carry on only) - 4 hours has been my limit in the F lounge with treatment, multiple delicious meals and drinks!

Does this still apply? as in are Qantas still handling BA check-in? If it is QF, don't they do all day check-in in Sydney?

It is QF agents but it's not done at the QF check-in desks.
BA have their own check-in desks at SYD. All day check-in is not available for BA AFAIK.

ah ok, thanks Fiona :)
Is it still a 4hour window for BA016

Do you get Express Path?
I would also get into the snake line asap.
Pity Aust does not do Smartgate on Aust departures, unlike NZ.

Yes you get express path if you are OWE or flying F/J.

Outbound Smartgate is being trialled in BNE I believe, so it is coming.
