Hi, am confused how these new food outlet options work with Priority Pass and guests. With normal lounges I would use my free pass and then pay $29 to bring in a guest. Now it seems to be a case of not paying to enter a food outlet but get a certain amount off bill, say $35. Would I have to register my guest, thus paying the usual $29 for them, and then get$70 off bill, or can I just bring in guest and get my $35 off bill for food for the both of us? This would obviously be a much better option as I doubt we would spend $70 for a couple of drinks. Do you actually register as you enter as you would a regular lounge or is it just a case of presenting card at time of bill - in which case I might be able to get $35 off a bill for both of us? Hope that makes sense.

You present your pass at the register. Your meal up to $36 is free. If you bring a guest the staff will enter 2 people dining in the system and you get charged the $36 for your guest.

Of course if you are not spending more than $36 for the both of you then just order whatever you want up to the limit to get them for free.

Still a bit confused. Can we take a table for 2, just order for the both of us up to $36 without registering a guest and paying their admission? They won't just see that there are two of you and automatically charge you the guests admission? Sorry to be so thick!

Yep.
Just tell them to only charge 1 entry.

Just got (eventually) a response from PP - they say that guest payment would need to be made regardless of amount spend. Sigh.

So if I am to walk into the restaurant, by myself, and order 2 x main meals which total $35 then I won't be charged for a guest, however if I am to do the same thing and a friend is standing next to me..then am I charged the $29 guest fee?

If so, then maybe it's a better idea to just order by myself and have the person join me at the table a few minutes later..

Yes, that is what gets me. I really don't understand it.
The reality is that you don’t have to have a guest charged to your card.

Just say you’re only having one entry and the other person will order and you pay the difference if any.

Once you give it a go you will see the reality is it’s noting like an entry to a lounge.

If you get someone officious, like all lounge access, the dragon always wins - so just go to one of the other restaurants available.

Thats what I would think, i have not tried it yet. If the food outlet asked me if I am buying for 2 people, I will just say I am hungry (and flying LCC). I dont think the sales assistant would particularily care to make an issue out of it.

If it looked like it was going to be a hassle, I would just order 3 courses, and Extra large drink etc.

Just be aware - I wasn't - that paid Priority Pass membership auto-renews on anniversary date, meaning charge to c.c. in US$ at current rate plus c.c. exchange fee. Maybe if you are travelling often and/or always wanting to take a guest it could still be worthwhile, but check out the value first.
