Just a note of caution in making bookings via the new Virgin Australia Holidays (Zuji) portal which has replaced Agoda.

Even if the hotel description says that the reservation is cancellable up to the day before - this is the hotel's conditions. Virgin Australia Holidays will (per the sites T&C) charge you $80 to cancel and will then keep the balance of any prepayment in credit which can only be used with them.

So in addition to having an almost unusable site; requiring all bookings to be prepaid and having no way to self-service your bookings; they are essentially non-refundable irrespective of what the individual hotels booking conditions are as listed on the site.

Yet another reason that this 'enhancement' is a complete backward step over Agoda.

In my view should be completely avoided. I'll find a hotel through Agoda that has decent point PointsMAX return - which presumably will mean that VA will miss out on any commission they are receiving through bookings made via Zuji. Unless your stay is set in concrete and you somehow find a cheaper rate via the VAH/Zuji site - I can't imagine the new portal being much use to any VA customer.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

That's pretty astounding. Thanks for the information.
One would have to get an extremely good deal to use this new service.

I booked a flight for wife and daughter SYD-BNE and they offered 8% off hotel bookings. Booked 2 nights in Pattaya in March for $37.72/night which was good value compared to other websites for those 2 nights and also receive 115 points/night.

For some reason Qantas hotels and Agoda have bumped the rate up for those 2 nights to ~$50/night.

Thanks for the heads up. Think I'll avoid booking through VA for this 'enhancement' regardless of points earn opportunity.

For the life of me, I just cant get their website to work!

3 different computers and IE, Firefox, Chrome. I select the location Im searching via the area pop up selection, I get an error message to "select destination" and that stupid wheel just spins around and around and nothing.

Just made 3 bookings that took over a dozen attempts to search because the website kept sh*tting itself.

The email confirmation contains no details of the booking, only a booking number with no link to find it anywhere and a link to the reservation that results in an error page.
Naturally a call to VA resulting in implying that one of the 3 computers and 2 devices on 4 different connections had something wrong them all.

Verdict so far...........Agoda was way better and I probably wont book directly with VA again.

That is pretty poor of virgin to advertise it as refundable when it is refundable to travel bank minus $80 fee. Amex travel would be better in that regards.

Here is an interesting dilemma.

I have 2 hotel bookings with Virgin Australia Holidays and the link to view one of the bookings does not work. Can't seem to bring up my booking. Now not even sure which hotel I booked. Need to call then in morning.

Not good.
