Claimed a price promise today and used Agoda as the comparison site. Today I got this response:

I regret to inform you that this is an invalid claim for Agoda.com does not have a capability to confirm the total amount of the booking.

Tax, fees and card fees will be reflected on your card statement, please check this link: http://www.agoda.com.au/info/agoda_termsofuse.html?asq=bs17wTmKLORqTfZUfjFABi6s%2fALyyefweavY6gGQKIL5vL0P87ai1ey7zc5xxpl%2fyH9DmKmvXZpk%2fiH8y%2fdXYI9BucVYLPcgMy1gKPLVaqsSfpppIj6PT9DjQUxOjZBu9gMVfLxDEF0c8Ne%2bTpxGp6gHvlbb2ZWlokzYZLhnl3TdAX2N8t%2fs4YEqdWB0CUl3rGNQ6xw1STtkn0Wyg%2fzy2ZwRwxc6mmrXcYNM8lsQlbU%3d

To qualify for Price Promise, the products on qantas.com and the competitor travel website must be identical in all regards, and all details must be visible on the screenshot of the competitor's website. Please see link: Transfers Price Promise | Qantas

So if claiming a hotel price promise, do not use Agoda.

Luckily they were quick to get back to me so I resubmitted the claim using Zuji and the Adina website itself.

Just got a response from them already! 30 minutes after I resubmitted the claims. That's very impressive.

Anyway, apparently Zuji has the same issues with Agoda. But they're investigating the disparity between the Adina website (the hotel chain that I booked with) on QF.com.

I want my 1000 points!

I tried to do it once and it was not worth the issue.

Maybe the QF call centre staff member I got was having a bad day.

Just another quick update. I emailed them back asking if Hotelclub and Wotif has the same issues as Agoda and Zuji. Here is the response:

In regard to your question, Hotelclub.com is Foreign Travel website that these website is not the same as Zuji and Agoda for they may have negotiated/discounted rates for members/non-members but they include the Taxes and Fees in the total.

Same as with Wotif.com ...

So I think that means that Hotelclub and Wotif are safe.

That smells like cough.

Per the Agoda T&C, the amount shown on the website is the total price you pay for your accommodation.

Further, per the QFF link:
[h=2]What qualifies?[/h]
  • Prices quoted in Australian dollars without the use of a currency converter including fees and taxes but excluding any card fees.
  • Same hotel property (including location).
  • Same room type (including bedding configuration).
  • Same number and type of travellers (including number of adults and children).
  • Same dates.
  • Same inclusions.
  • Same booking and cancellation conditions.
  • Prices on a website that ends in .au or on a website operated in Australia by an Australian company.
Therefore, per the link he used
1. The Agoda price is the price you pay for your accommodation.
2. The competitor travel website need not have an identical product - merely the same room type, on the same date, with the same inclusions and conditions.

I'd have kicked up a fuss about that.

Agoda prices do not include taxes. You can't see the final amount until the very last payment step. It's really annoying and that's I personally stopped using them. From the memory though their iPhone app quotes the full amount including taxes straight away

but agoda.com.au does include all taxes fees and charges on the main page. they have to by australian law (ie cannot use component pricing)
