Hello fellow AFF'ers!

Will be flying SQ and doing a 10 hour layover in Hong Kong next month, and am hoping for a locker in the SQ Silverkris lounge as I intend to run down to the city for some dim sum.

Do velocity platinum get you access to Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse, and if so are there lockers there?

Which would you pick of the two?

Cheers!

Not sure about the VA Clubhouse, though I always like the spacious & quality SKL in HKG. Excellent variety of delicious food including fish ball & other noodles made to order.
Good selection of seating areas & ample computer terminals & fast WIFI.
You could possibly call/email them regarding keeping your bags for a few hours.
Cheers,
jl

Is this for a transit in HKG? If arriving on a flight into HKG, you cannot access lounges until you go through the transit security screening point. And once through that security screening, you have left the arrivals area and entered the departures area, which means you can't easily get to the arrivals immigration processing point.

There is a left-luggage facility at HKG that is outside arrivals. The cost is small and they charge per bag, so combine into a large bag for a single fee. Then just collect and pass back through immigration to the departures area upon arrival back at the airport. I have done this with my family for a long same-day transit in Hong Kong. Save the problems with trying to get back to arrivals/immigration from the departures/lounge area.

have a look at this site and look at the interactive map for Terminal 1 and search for Left Baggage under Facilities. Hong Kong International Airport

Yes, this is my first time transiting in Hong Kong for 10 hours.

Thanks for giving me the heads up! I didn't know they segregated arrivals and departures. So much for my plans for freshening up in the lounges with some vital liquids!

Will follow your helpful instructions, thanks again

Vital liquids of most kinds are readily available throughout Hong Kong for very small financial outlay. Enjoy the day exploring Hong Kong. Its a wonderful place. Just be sure to go beyond the tourist areas of Mong Kok and Kowloon, and experience the real HK on the island (around Wan Chai, Causeway Bay etc).

Been to Kris silver in HKG last week. No shower. Thai lounge has one shower room only. HKG has a luggage storage service at the arrival floor - go under the Airport Express line - situated between T1 and T2. Not cheap though. The other option if you are taking Airport Express to downtown is that you can then do downtown checkin of luggage without fees. Obviously then you can't access the luggage again.

I did not realise this service existed.

HKG10 per hour or HKG120 per day.

Is a little expensive but I think worthwhile for me not to lug golf clubs and luggage across town and then back again on overnight transits.

Even the night before. Say arrive in HKG Sunday night and departing Monday afternoon. Can one use in town check-in the night before a flight?

I've used the In-town Check-in service before and you can do it "one full day ahead" (with a disclaimer that "the exact close-out time for individual airlines is subject to that airline's flight schedule, and you are advised to contact your airline for updated information"):
Transport - To & From Airport - Airport Express - Hong Kong International Airport
and
MTR > Getting Around > Airport Express Services > Free In-town Check-in Service

Usually 24 hrs. You should be fine.

Well there you go.

I have never thought to use in town check-in the day before my flight. From memory Virgin Atlantic arrives ~10:00pm so need to head out on airport express quickly to use in town check-in and head off to hotel.

My next flight is usually going to be on MH or CX in business.

I've used luggage storage at hkg before. Good service. ( I dropped off my cabin bag before heading to Macau for an overnight trip. Very handy).

Itci does work well too but locks you into using the airport express... or forfeiting the fare. Hkg is a great town and their innovation still surprises me at times.

ymmv ... I have used luggage storage at HKG located at the South end arrivals hall several times.

I wonder if this more central one is new?

Nah, recall it being there a couple of years ago. But the central one (Did/Does?) have much shorter opening hours than the one under the escalator/Cathay check-in area in the Arrivals hall.
