Hong Kong Airport - transit

I will be arriving HKG on QF127 at about 1600 and will transfer by CKS ferry to China at 2030 thru Skypier located at the transfer area E2. Given the long wait - would it be possible for me to visit some of the shops in the departure gates in the departures area and then return to the transit area at E2 for my skypiuer ferry trip.....as I believe there is security sreening between transit area and departure gates where the shops are?

I can't answer your question, but there are some shops (food, I can't recall if general retail) in the area where you go to get your ferry ticket. Plenty of place to sit too.

Other discussions have resolved that the Departures area needs a departure boarding pass to access.
